Thanks Carl.

There's no guarantee the operation will be a success and, I'm worried about the anaesthetic.

It's gonna be hard dropping her off at the hospital tomorrow morning (she has to go in for surgery at 6.30am).

Then, I have to go back and look after Dad who appears to be in his last days.

He's blind, deaf, and can't walk, and now doesn't seem to know who he is or where he is.

I'll make him some breakfast, give him his meds, and just pray mum makes it through the surgery.

Tomorrow ain't gonna be my best day.

And of course, I hope your aunt is okay.

Getting old sucks balls.

Sorry to hear all that Greg.  I know what you're going through. I hope every thing works out for you and your parents.

Cheers John.

The surgery went well, and she survived the anaesthetic - they gave her an epidural to reduce the risk.

She's in intense pain today, however, and they can't find anything to relieve it.

Dad had a carer for four hours today, so I could get some work done. She said he slept most of the time.

I've just woken him up, taken him outside, and given him a beer (it's 4pm here).

I'll make him some dinner in a couple of hours and then go through the long slow process of getting him back in bed for the night - brushing teeth, toilet, medication, eye drops, etc.

It's like having a small child to look after again  Smiley

good to hear it all went well for your mum. The pain will ease with time.

As for your dad, It's the cycle of life.  Good onya for looking after him.

My mother died over 10 years ago and
now my father is dying in a rest home.
As far as I know he's bedridden and in pain.
I can't even go and see him.

That sucks, Bobby.  Sorry  Cry

My Dad is 90% blind and deaf, but he can walk to the toilet and back (with a walker) and isn't in any pain or discomfort at all.

He's just bored shitless and says he's had enough.

A letter writer in yesterday's paper begs to differ.

The writer said that after seeing what happened with panic buying in the supermarkets here in Perth last Sunday afternoon just before the lockdown started it was obvious that "we are not all in this together and it was all about self preservation".

we are all in this together.

the politicians and chief health officers havent missed a pay cheque.

the big business interests are seeing their share prices boom and they are cracking the champagne with their mistresses on their yachts.

and the tourism operators, coffee shop owners, resturant owners, gym owners travel agents and hairdressors are all in it together (as in they are all in bankruptcy court together)

It's terrible.
I heard my father's voice on the phone -
he sounds very weak and was slurring his words.
He said  " I'm not long for this world "

We don't let animals suffer like this yet it happens to humans -

ive often thought that bobby.

when i have gone to nursing homes, i have seen people who have such profound health issues and suffering, that if they were one of my farm animals and i let them suffer like that, the RSPCA would charge me with cruelty.

its quite the double standard

Glad she's doing well so far and hope the recovery continues goes well.

Just make sure she doesn't stumble across your account here. If she saw you posting photos of innocent children insinuating a link to incest, she'd die of shame of what her son has become.

WA has always been in isolation from the rest of the world, they are like Tasmanians.

Well, it looks like we may have dodged yet another COVID-19 'bullet' here in WA although we still have some restrictions like having to wear masks for the next week.

Meanwhile, the numbnuts in Canberra look like they're getting us all lined up for the next wave of outbreaks:

Flight caps to increase, hotel quarantine system to remain - key points from today's National Cabinet meeting

https://www.9news.com.au/national/scott-morrison-national-cabinet-flight-caps-to...

Quote:
Flight caps for returned travellers will increase again next week to help get overseas Australians home, the prime minister confirmed today.
National Cabinet met this morning and determined the country's hotel quarantine system would remain despite recent coronavirus transmission in the facilities.

Yeah, like that was a surprise. Hope they're ready for the inevitable lawsuits if the virus gets loose here and people start dying. I know for a fact that if anything happens to my elderly aunt because of COVID-19 my name will be at the top of the list of plaintiffs.

I also found this picture when I was reading a few more articles this morning, can anyone else see the irony there?

(It was taken at Heathrow in London, btw).

it infected the minds of an increasingly hypochondriacal population.

and the treatment the hypochondriacal population are increasingly addicted to is the virtue signalling politician who is happy to demolish businesses and pamder to the "worried well".

the "worried well" hould be very "worried" about a trillion dollar debt and a demolition of tax paying businesses becuase that will mean

way way less services in the future for them

less health care
less aged care
less welfare.

they might not like that much
but that the consequence of hiding under your sheets for 18 months and being a quivering fraidy cat

(Sorry for bumping this older thread but I didn't want to start a new one or put it in one for other States).

Here we go...

COVID-19 safety breach potentially exposes Perth hospital staff to virus

https://www.9news.com.au/national/covid19-safety-breach-exposes-perth-hospital-s...

Quote:
Three staff members at the Royal Perth Hospital may have been exposed to coronavirus after a safety breach involving a service lift used by a COVID-19 patient.
It has been revealed the lift, used by a ship captain who was treated at the hospital last week, wasn't properly cordoned off, exposing the staff to the potentially deadly virus.
The captain, a man in his 60s, was flown to Perth on Friday night after being evacuated from the cruise ship, the AquaGenie.

Glad I don't have to go anywhere near Royal Perth Hospital for another 5 weeks and WTF are they doing bringing Covid infected people all the way down to Perth from a ship in Karratha? Don't they have any medical facilities up there?

I'm hoping that by this time next week Perth isn't starting another 5 day (or longer) lockdown. Idiots.

(btw, the AquaGenie isn't a cruise ship - its a cargo ship and it has now left Australian waters. Thank goodness).
