But, most importantly, the Macquarie bank has a licence to print money, oops speeding fines.

As we all know,
Greed $CAMERAS will save all the drivers on the road.
More GREED $CAMERAS mean more money from speeding motorists
Most of whom (90%) will have crept a few klm/hr over some draconian speed limit while travelling down hill on major freeways.

These anomalies, you know,
Drunk drivers
Drugged drivers
Drivers who have no regard for driving safely
Defective vehicles
Stolen vehicles
Etc, etc.
Have little effect on the road toll........or more to the point, they don't contribute to spending fines.

It's far more important to spend more and more money to prop up the Macquarie banks profits than actually fix the roads and catch the truly dangerous drivers.

Remember.
Greed $CAMERAS are profitable, easy to enforce, contribute to mac banks profits and not require any intelligence to maintain or operate.
They are designed to grab cash from profitable working people who pay taxes and have jobs.

Drunk, drugged drivers, stolen vehicles and defective vehicles are generally not profitable as they are generally dole bludgers, immigrants or too poor to ever contribute to any revenue, no matter how many fines are issued, because they never pay them anyway.

So you see.
Cameras.......profitable.....good

Police patrols......cost money.....not good.

Reducing the road toll

Driver deliberately speeds from traffic lights, sideswipes a car next to his that had right of way after lights turned green.

Fifteen minutes later, the same driver, in the same vehicle, a stolen 4 wheel drive, runs a red light, collides with a truck and his vehicle rolls into the path of two pedestrians who were walking their dog. Both pedestrians are deceased. One of the pedestrians, a female, was pregnant. The unborn child is also deceased

Reducing the road toll

A 48 year old woman driving with suspended license, in an unregistered people mover, hits gutter and crashes into a steel fence in Botany, Sydney. Failed to negotiate a bend in the road

An unrestrained two months old baby in the people mover was flung through a window and landed almost 10 meters away.

Arrested twice
DAVID BARWELL
A DRIVER has been arrested twice in as many days for alleged drug and traffic offences on Sydney’s north shore.
The 50-year-old Enfield woman was allegedly caught driving on a suspended licence under the influence of drugs in Willoughby about 9.35am on Tuesday. She was arrested and charged.
About 24 hours later she was rearrested after police pulled her over in Willoughby and she returned another positive drug test, police allege.

Greed cameras dont catch drug or drunk drivers

Valkie,

I like that attribution.

Telling it how it is.

IMO, governments are always interested in 'appearances',
....they are rarely interested in bringing about proper and appropriate OUTCOMES.

Another problem today.....

'Catch and release.'

.....even the most dangerous and vicious criminals.

Very fitting description

Here is an example ....

Mother driving kids to daycare clips another vehicle and careers into front door of house. Police let mother go, no charges

At the very least she should have been charged with negligent driving in a built up area.

Probably she was driving too fast for the conditions. Conditions meaning all things taken into consideration, one of which is allowing for the eventuality that a car could reverse out of it's driveway - and that's what happened, she clipped the car reversing out

A one-day advanced driving course for all beginners can help here, after they've earned their "P"s. It would imprint cautious driving tactics in beginners' minds

Another drunk that could not be caught by a camera.

Quote:
BID TO AVOID RBT
A MAN has been arrested in a dramatic police confrontation after he failed to stop for random breath testing.

At 7pm yesterday police flagged down a black Holden Commodore on Gregory St, South West Rocks, for an RBT. Police say the 31-year-old male driver refused to stop, and kept driving to a supermarket. When police approached the man in his car he refused to take a breath test and became aggressive.

Police used pepper spray and arrested him — he was later charged with refusing to submit to breath test, two counts of resist officer and high-range drink-driving.
