2022 Audi electric Dakar SUV

Audi will end its Formula E campaign after the 2021 season to make its landmark return to the world of rallying with an entry into the 2022 Dakar Rally.

Technical details of the new Dakar racer remain under wraps, as does most of its final design, but it will take its power from an electric motor mated to a high-voltage battery, with a turbocharged petrol engine serving as a "highly efficient energy converter".

Much nicer. The Saudi's love to drift close to the action.

I think JsSin is referring to Mauritanian locals who happen to be "in" Saudi Arabia...

Perhaps they can congregate in a special "no run over" zone, away from all other spectators (or ideally, the race generally), to "keep themselves safe"?

I'll be interested - despite being something of a "luddite" in the gradual but inevitable transition from ICE to battery transport - to see just how quickly the battery tech. improves.

Not just for the vehicle industry, but for other areas of use also.

No. I'm pretty sure there will be some Saudi locals who cop the odd Vehicle.

Are they using a turbo petrol to charge the battery?
