I noticed bugalugs reposted my picture but even as a trained "zoologist"
he was unable to identify the lizard.   Roll Eyes

Tree goannas are not overtly aggressive, but they can be dangerous due to their sharp claws, teeth, and tail, which they use for defense if they feel threatened. While they have venom, it is not considered harmful to humans, although it can cause swelling or irritation. A bite from any goanna can lead to a nasty infection because of the bacteria in their mouths, so it is best to avoid getting bitten altogether.

Potential dangers
Defensive weaponry: A frightened tree goanna can use its sharp claws, powerful tail, and teeth to defend itself, potentially causing serious injury, particularly to small pets.
Bites and scratches: If a goanna bites or scratches you, the wound can become infected due to bacteria in its mouth.
Bites from feeding: Attempting to feed goannas can result in bites and makes them less wary of people, which increases the risk of future conflict.

Safety precautions
Keep a safe distance: Observe them from a respectful distance and do not approach them.
Secure pets: Keep pets, especially small dogs, on a leash when in areas where goannas are present.
Do not provoke them: Avoid cornering or cornering them. If a goanna runs at you, the best course of action is to lie down on the ground.

Keep children and pets away: If a goanna is in your house or near your campsite, move children and pets to another room until the animal has left.

Do not feed them: Feeding goannas is discouraged as it can lead to dangerous interactions.
