This young man was acting upon beliefs he likely learned at home, beliefs that are relentlessly ingrained and based on Islam’s death penalty for blasphemy. Does Emmanuel Macron really think he can institute some kind of program that will lead young men like this one to give up these deeply held beliefs?

France is ultimately going to have to choose .....between the freedom of expression and Sharia, and demand with the full force of law that all of its citizens conform to one or the other. Which one it will choose is anyone’s guess at this point.
