I say yes they did.....! it is well know that nuclear blast reaches the stratosphere and that's were most of our ozone is located.

Montebello islands 2. Emu Field 3. Dude a short course in fluid dynamics.

Get a transparent tube and pumps water through it you might be able to see the water flowing in the tube sometimes with the air bubbles and maybe some foreign matter.

Now add a dye and you can clearly see the flow.

Soooo, whether or not the soot (dye) flows in the nuclear explosion the air blast from the nuclear explosion clearly reaches the ozone layer and disrupts it, the fact is the soot from the fires only makes it worse.
