Fire relief - six months+ on....
Oct 3rd, 2020 at 1:34am

On another issue that I am fired up about - we (the ex and I) drove through one of the badly fire affected areas today and checked it out.... there are still 200 people/families living in tents and caravans, and this is now nearly six months since I posted that families were living in tents and caravans before Winter -  now gone... and that is only near here!!  They're still in tents and caravans!

I'm about to link with an ex para from Williamtown bloke (under Harry Smith of Long Tan fame) and do a doco about his relief runs STILL going on weekly..... Gladys Inc crows about building 50 'pods' that went further north - hmmm - $20,000 each = $1m.... Where's The Rest?

Someone has to do something... that girl alone raised $50m for fire victim relief and saw it vanish into the coffers of organisations... the para and his woman have become a registered charity to continue the REAL work...

People - I am ropeable....

I agree  its just isnt good enough   my fear is the money that was donated isnt going where people thought it was going to go.... Angry Angry it happens time and time again..the money goes to fixing roads..which is the local govts job....what can we do grap??... tell us how we can fix this...its shameful.

I donated to Red Cross when Victoria had those bushfires in 2009, when 173 people died. Then heard that my money didn't go where I wanted it to, so I haven't donated again. You donate in good faith and it doesn't reach the people it is supposed to.  Same with all so-called "charities" and door knockers!

Sadly no-one cares much anymore.
The Aust Wild Fires have fallen on the popularity polls, with the Californian Wild Fires leading by a 40% and all things Trump is way up there in the lead overall. You can't beat the Media focus on Trump - it's almost a character assassination of a President.
Press Meetings usually now start with the agenda "Destroy Trump".
The hatred for Trump by the Media culture of America (which is not the only culture in America) is absolute - from racism about his 'red' appearance, his relationship, his fiery little 'ranga' behaviour and more.

Anyway, what were we talking about again?
Oh yeah - Aust Wild Fires and the 'compensation' from the damage that the Political, Scientific, Military, Religion, etc have done to the world.

Torres Straight Islanders are charging the Aust Government for losing their lands by Climate Change and the Govt shrugs it off as an 'International' fault.

Many people had their fingers burned in this donation farce - they lined up with their money to give to those in need and those in need are not receiving it.  The ex and I, along with a lot of other people, put our hands in our back pockets to do runs of water bottles and food and emergency supplies to both the RFS and burnout victims - one firm in Brisbane - the boss hooked his driver on Friday afternoon to do a run all the way to Sydney and back and many transport firms put trucks on the road without fee, and many people did runs hundreds of km long in their own vehicles at their own cost to provide supplies.

Then all the donated funds go into consolidated revenues of one kind or another.

The only way to run such a charity is to do it yourself, which means setting it up.  That's what the people I've mentioned first have done - it's the only way.  They are now branching out into finding a house and setting it up with internet and such so that those who can't access those things have the chance - meaning they can access ways to get assistance money where it is available.

Guess what - their neighbours in a bush rural area (of all places) are complaining about the traffic in and out.... Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes
