The young and not so young really need something to object to, like way back in the 60s and the Vietnam War. Bring back conscription and that would get them going.  Grin

Lock the Population down.
Watch them die of boredom.
...and itch for a War to start.

A willing population for War.  Wink

Bobby is already playing Hitler clips.
He's itching for a War, locked inside his unit.

Ahh, but the trick with Australia (Southern Hemisphere) is that it needs a Republic with NO head of State(s). Southern Politics is weak at the individual/leader and strong in the Party/Public Collective.

In America, the so-called "left" (Democrats) seem to be mostly "movie stars", i.e. people who work pretending to be other people. The so-called "Right" (Republicans)seem to be the religious lot.  If I lived in America I probably wouldn't bother to vote, since I am neither a "celeb" nor a Church goer.  Wink

There is a game show host and a movie star... both of whom were/ are POTUS. How many democratic celebs have been POTUS?

I was actually talking about those who follow/vote for Democrats/Republicans.

However, some of the POTUS' became "celebs" after being (or while) in Office.  Wink Some even wrote books.  Grin

I meant what else would it be other than nationalist to want an Australian Head of State. Lefty progressives who are rejecting the Monarchy and wanting an Australian Head of State are thinking in terms of National Pride

Righties are not necessarily rejecting the Monarchy and are in no hurry to change our Head of State.

Lefty progressives are far more nationalist than the righties on this issue

what is a lefty progressive"? you mean a "righty lefty"?

most of the ppl rejecting the monarchy are a new catagory called republicans.

The vote was against john howard being head of state with no oversigjht so looks like majority of ppl dont want more authoritarianism

We need more government control to reduce authoritarianism!  Oddly, that's how the 'reasoning' works... the demand is out there for governments to let go - by legislation....  Huh

Controlling authoritarianism requires authority......
