we'll just have to see what the loss of 10's of 10.000 of businesses.
the loss of the tourism sector
the loss of international students at universities

the probable loss of 1/2 our markets for iron ore, wine and beef (thanks to our insistence on antagonising china)

we'll see how this all plays out in 12 months when

the government thru lack of funds has to scrap jobkeeper and reduce jobseeker to the old levels.
10's of 1000 's of household go into mortgage default and property prices drop making the banks close to insolvent.

we'll see what a 8 % recession looks like.

i remember a 1 % recession under keating and the number of people being sold up by the banks was incredible.

lets just see how Dan and Scomo cope when a current affair are running 1000's of stories on the police handcuffing citizens and dragging them out of their houses , not to be fined , but to be chucked on the street.

we'll see then whether we should have demolished our country with the toughest lockdowns in the world over a virus that causes 'the sniffles" for the majority of the population Roll Eyes

Your entire argument boils down to the cost of reducing covid deaths compared to what we are prepared to spend on other deaths. But now that I have pointed out how absurdly wrong you are on the cost of preventing road deaths, you suddenly want to wait and see. You can think for yourself, right now. Give us a more realistic estimate of the cost to our economy of halving the speed limit. Or are you afraid to discover that the cost of covid restrictions is entirely proportional to the threat?

And yes we do put a price on a human life
This was established in my very excellent thread entitled

You can't put a price on human life

Currently the road traffic authorities value a life at 9 million dollars
that's how much they are willing to spend to save one life
Interestingly the courts when assessing payouts four people damaged early in their life
Seem to come to a figure slightly less than that but in that ballpark

When the life insurance companies are valuing a 90 year old damaged in .say. a motor vehicle accident
The value is much less
There is no loss of future economic potential

So I'm glad we've cleared up those points

Now Daniel Andrews is currently costing his state 5 billion dollars per week
For this lockdown
how many lives will be saved and how many millions of dollars will each one cost
And if they are the lives of 90 year olds are we willing to say
That those lives are not as valuable as 9 year olds

The courts are certainly willing to say that
The life insurance companies are certainly willing to say that

So was Daniel willing to speak the truth
And if we are talking in the billions not the millions
We are talking about valuing kovid
At about 1000 times what we value other potential causes of death

But it's deeper than that for simpletons such as yourself

Ipswich Hospital today has sent 220 staff home on 14 days paid quarantine
That's a major sector of its workforce

People presenting after road trauma
Children presenting with meningitis
Middle aged people presenting with heart attacks
People presenting with drug overdoses

Are going to die in larger numbers because of that decision

Of course the simpletons won't ask the chief health minister about those deaths
They aren't from covid so they don't appear to count
But to anyone with a modicum of common sense
One can see that the numbers just don't stack up

Unless one failed remedial mats

No, to sum up your argument, you think the the only threat the virus is capable of impsoing is death, and it's only a threat to those in aged care or with a pre-existing condition and even those death rates are miniscule, so any further actions to mitigate the virus are a waste of time, an overreaction and a sign weakness. You don't like any measure from limits to public gathering, limits to patrons in stores, border closures and wearing masks, until Trump was seen wearing one anyway.

What you have to ignore to continue holding onto that ignorant view of the pandemic include:

The reasons why the death rate is so low here.
That the death rate is not all that matters.
The growing number of deaths from young people and healthy people without any preexisting conditions from the virus around the world, especially in those places who have been unable/unwilling to mitigate the virus.
The long term damage that's becoming evident as we learn more about the virus, especially to young people in the form of heart, lung, kidney and liver damage that is happening, even with asymptomatic patients.
The economy will take much longer to recover if people get sick and the virus runs wild destroying the confidence levels rather than limits being imposed by Governments.
"Herd immunity" without a vaccine is not herd immunity, it's the virus running wild.
And you've decided that the lives of the people most at risk don't matter.

You paint it as if they are only unhealthy due to their lifestyle choices, like the obese and because it's self-inflicted they don't matter.

The justifications you push out there to excuse your rhetoric doesn't even support your rhetoric. You pretend it's about compassion for the youth to flourish when you've shown no compassion at all. You have a motivation that still isn't clear.

It would be too simple to say you're just a troll with nothing better to do or a desperate cucked snowflake trying with all your effort to defend a political leader who you so strongly idolise, who has been a complete and total failure, especially on this subject.

No, they're too simple answers, even for someone as simple as you.

It's a mystery at least to me why you insist on pushing a certain narrative around the virus, the pandemic and the reaction to it especially given what you have to keep ignoring to stay on message.

the god of the old testament is a good model for

how to move forward in life v how to be demolished.

the first story of the garden of eden is a story about how the serpent always comes back into utopia.

covid is such a serpent.

the second stroy, of cain and abel, is that you have to make the right sacrifices and that if you become jealous and bitter about how your brother is doing better then you, it will make you bitter and vengeful

the stroy of noah is a stroy of being prepared for the stressors which will come.

the story of abraham is the story of the 'spirit of adventure", even at 80 god expected abraham to get out of his tent and take action,.

the story of moses is the story of how, if you complain, god will let you wander in the desert, it is a story about the consequences of ingratitude.

god can help us indeed.

to use our "spirit of adventure"
to accept fully that nature is the "evolutionary blowtorch" and we confront problems with courage or we shiver under the sheets and the choice is ours
