Disgraced former Labor MP and convicted paedophile Milton Orkopoulos has been charged with further child sex offences.

Orkopoulos was arrested at 11am this morning at Silverwater jail by Lake Macquarie detectives, after an extensive investigation under Strike Force Glenwarrie, which was set up in January to investigate allegations of historic sexual and indecent assault offences against two juvenile boys in the 1990s.

olice will allege Orkopoulos sexually assaulted two young boys who were known to him on separate occasions in the 1990s, in Lake Macquarie and the Mid North Coast.

Just after midday Orkopoulos was charged with 15 fresh offences, including five counts of aggravated sexual assault of a victim under 16 years and five counts of aggravated indecent assault of victims under 16 years.

He is also being charged with three counts of forcing a child under 14 to participate in prostitution, commit act of indecency and aggravated indecency.

The former Swansea MP spent 11 years in jail after being convicted on a slew of charges in 2008, including having sex with a male between 10-18, possessing child pornography and indecent assault.

Orkopoulos was released on parole in 2019, but was returned to jail after breaking his parole conditions on two occasions.

He served in parliament from 1999 to 2006, and was a Lake Macquarie councillor for four years.

Orkopoulos will face court in Newcastle tomorrow.

yet they thought he  was safe to release into the public domain....
