Despite the large death toll in the U.S.,     the U.S. still ranks less per/million [atm!], than many European nations.

Australia is 8th up from the bottom.

That is until you look at some of the states individually

                           deaths        deaths per million
New York             24,648       1,256
New Jersey            7,886          888
Massachuseiis        4,004          586
Conncticut             2,495          697

The flu has a death rate of approx 0.1%
compare that to New York which has a population of 20 million. It has lost over 0.1% of it's entire population

sooooo 60,000 deaths in the USA.

thanks for confirming my point about this being equivalent to the flu

According to an estimate by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were approximately 45 million cases of the flu in the United States during the 2017-2018 influenza season, resulting in an estimated 810,000 flu-associated hospitalizations and an estimated 61,000 flu-associated deaths

Of course 2017-2018 was the worst flu season in years so i can see why you cherry picked that.
The actual number of US flu deaths per year varies between 25,000 and 60,000 (with 60,000 being a very bad flu year)

Now Covid-19 has killed at least 70,000 americans, in the space of 6 weeks despite a lock down being in place
let that sink in

That's bullshit mimo.

Why did NY democrats call this a coronavirus scare?

Sending Kung flu victims back to nursing homes was a great idea to rid NY of quite a few boomers which is more idiocy from democrats in NY.
Pick your source even blind freddy would say sending Kung flu victims to nursing homes is pure idiocy.

The democrats are to blame for kung flu numbers in NY

Quote:
Is New York's Policy Putting Nursing Home Residents at Risk of Catching COVID-19?

Apr. 22, 2020
NEW YORK - “He might die,” Katarzyna Lewczuk said, worried about her father.  "The last time I saw him was on Valentine’s Day,” she told NY1 as she choked back tears.
Her father is in a nursing home and was diagnosed with COVID-19. It’s a fear thousands of families of nursing home residents face, made worse some say, by New York State’s March 25th mandate that nursing homes cannot deny “re-admission or admission…solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19.”

That has resulted in hospitals sending recovering coronavirus patients to nursing homes at which they weren’t even staying.

”Why would they be sending COVID patients to the nursing home? Who came up with this idea? Why would they think this was a sane idea,” asked Lewczuk. "It's crazy.”

“It is really is not in the best interest of nursing home residents and their staff to continue to require those facilities to accept COVID-19 positive patients or those suspected of COVID-19 if they were not residents prior to that hospitalization,” said The New York State Health Facilities Association President and CEO Stephen Hanse.

According to numbers released by the State Department of Health, nearly one in five state COVID-19 deaths have been nursing home residents.
