We may be "winning" at the moment but let's see what happens with this:

WA prepares to quarantine flight arrivals

https://www.begadistrictnews.com.au/story/6735754/wa-prepares-to-quarantine-flig...

Quote:
Western Australia has again recorded no new cases of coronavirus overnight, but the premier has warned a spike is possible when hundreds more Australians fly home this week.

Quote:
Premier Mark McGowan says four aircraft will arrive in Perth this week from Kuala Lumpur, South Africa, France and India.

Some flights will stop only to refuel, but passengers who disembark in Perth will be quarantined in hotels and Rottnest Island also remains a possibility.

Mr McGowan says the state's confirmed cases of coronavirus may grow as a result of the influx of people returning from overseas.

"People coming home, obviously, is unavoidable, but if our numbers grow, it will be because of those aircraft coming in with hundreds and hundreds of Australians," he said.

I sure hope they know what they're doing because if something goes wrong and cases start to increase dramatically there are going to be a lot of angry people here - including myself.

2 weeks quarantine is not enough. Needs to be extended to a month.

Seen a thing today where a specialist said that active virus had been measured still being expelled up to 21 days.

I think it is 2 weeks quarantine then they can go if they have no symptoms and test clear.

Within 2 weeks it would emerge I guess.

So you start a quarantine period now
Say have a family of 2 adults and 4 kids
So we continue the lockdown

One of those kids can give it to another kid in an asymptomatic way 14 days after they catch it
Then that child can give it to a sibling 10 to 14 days later
Then that a symptomatic child can give it to another sibling 10 to 14 days later
Then that  asymptomatic child can give it to another sibling 14 days later
then that asymptomatic child can give it to a parent 14 days later
Then that parent can give it to their partner 14 days later

Then that partner can go to coles and give it to a parent with four children
And then they can take it home and slowly infect their way through that family

Assuming 6 people there
you have now perpetrated the coronavirus for 3 months
Despite everybody obeying strict lockdown rules

You will never ever beat this
You cannot cower under your bed and beat this
There may not be a vaccine
Even if there is it maybe 5 to 10 years in the making

Time to stand up straight
Go out with a spirit of adventure and confront the world

Still a bit of a worry as far as I'm concerned.

This part still interests me.

Funny how the Federal and State governments can "instantly" enact draconian laws to keep people confined to their homes for months and (in some states, at least) fine people for going outside and even just sitting on a park bench as well as virtually shutting down the economy with millions of people losing their jobs but they can't stop all these people returning to Australia at least until this virus is under control.

Something is definitely not right about all this. At least most of these overseas arrivals are being quarantined on Rottnest Island off the coast but some of them are staying at the Pan Pacific (formerly the Sheraton) hotel in Perth City.

And, I see they're (once again) using Transperth buses to move these people from the airport. Yet another reminder for me not to use public transport any time in the foreseeable future.
