I've already ordered rooftop solar. With this put in I'll be out of pocket a little over $2500, that should be recouped in about 2 years. The local community energy company I'm a shareholder in is about to install a 2MW battery up here.

you won't get much waiting for that to help you. Feed in rates are crap.

I put in a 6kw system about a year ago. My bill went from approx $650-$700 per quarter, to $200 per quarter. I put the best quality system I could find at the time. No cheap inverters or panels etc. I was a bit disappointed the savings weren't more. I was expecting bills of about $70. It was a bit hard to work out the exact amounts because pre solar i had a discount on my bill which i lost once i put in solar.

Mind you, I haven't switched providers yet. I understand I can bring the bill down to about $170 if i swap to another provider. Whilst better, still not $70.

There're limits to what you can feed in as far as I understand so you may not be feeding in all you could possibly.

Alinta. (Victoria) I want to find out if Alinta do Qld so daughter’s elec bill can be better.
I think I mentioned them in a different post some time back when I found out China bought them out!

And I will be keeping my eye on the billing now.

They had a big discount if paid on time, so I set up a direct debit, and their prices per kw were way better than the last mob I was with even though they had the 40% off.

Our electricity bills have been the lowest ever since going with Alinta, and their phone service and PR is excellent!

I hope it doesn’t change now that China owns them Undecided
