Bette Midler takes to Twitter against Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison

Australia is on fire, and the world has taken notice. Our Prime Minister Scott Morrison is copping the brunt of the backlash from those affected by the fires, as well as those watching on from abroad with horror.

American singer Bette Midler pulled no punches as she lashed out at Mr Morrison early this morning in an extraordinary tweet that has already generated more than 19,000 likes and 5000 retweets.

“Pity the poor #Australians, their country ablaze, and their rotten @ScottMorrisonMP saying, “This is not the time to talk about Climate Change. We have to grow our economy. What an idiot. What good is an economy in an uninhabitable country? Lead, you f...wit!!”

The Divine Miss M’s tweet has been well received by Australians, with @CatPurry9 commenting: “Bless your heart Ms M. You’ve voiced what so many of us here DownUnder are feeling. Love you long time” and @sgg2203 tweeting: “Thank you @BetteMidler. Your support & voice is greatly appreciated. Our Prime Minister has totally let us all down. It’s hell in earth down here and our PM is clueless!” Sad
