The far right had an almost absolute monopoly on lethal terrorism in the United States last year.

"On Wednesday, the Anti-Defamation League released a report finding that attackers with ties to right-wing extremist movements killed at least 50 people in 2018.

"That was close to the total number of Americans killed by domestic extremists, meaning that the far right had an almost absolute monopoly on lethal terrorism in the United States last year."

Damn lies and statistics.  More people die texting and driving, are you gonna ban cars or phones??

Authorities have not named the suspect but say he is a 16-year-old student at the school. He carried out the attack on his birthday.

video footage from the high school that showed the suspect taking a handgun from his backpack and shooting five other people before shooting himself in the head.

The answer is to find the cause.

Why did this kid do it?

Can anyone guarantee that he would not have found some other way (knife, poison, vehicle etc.) to kill people, if guns were harder to access?

Of course no one can guarantee that he could not have done so.

There is a lot more to the answer than shouting gun control.

a student said he was a loner  and his father who drank heavily died two years ago.......he was in some kind of pain read hell I would say...

he even used a weapon thats banned in California...

guns are far far too easy to get in that country....

how would it be here if 16 yr olds  had access to guns??.. it would be terrifying..

yet over there even toddlers get their hands on them Angry Angry

Guns alone are not the cause of the problem cods.

Obviously the mental state of this kid had a significant impact on his actions.

Common sense gun ownership should be in place, that's a given.

But I feel that it is not the 100% answer to this.

There are other factors which have be addressed to find the answers to this problem.

Why would anyone want to kill someone?

That's the real issue here.

We aren't discussing texting and driving, dear.

We're discussing domestic terrorism.

And, the far right had an almost absolute monopoly on lethal terrorism in the United States last year.

Only one murder was related to Islamic terrorism.

All the rest were right-wing extremists/white supremacists.

What comes last is the shooting.

Without a gun, that can't happen.

Indeed.

Should it be as hard to get a gun in America as it is a driver's license? I would think that would be a sensible bar for gun ownership.
