900 wind turbine blades go to landfill

900 wind turbine blades go to landfill

WWW search....
a wyoming landfill is burying 900 non-recyclable wind turbine blades

Quote:

A Wyoming landfill is burying massive fiberglass wind turbine blades in a huge unlined pit because they're not recyclable, and there's no other good use for them.

At least three wind farms in the state are scraping more than 900 old environmentally unfriendly blades that will be sawed into........

WWW search

QUESTIONS;
Why     WEREN'T      the wind turbine blades designed, to be recyclable ?

Why can't those blades still be used, on a wind turbine generator ?

Why do wind turbine blades have such a short working lifespan ?

Does this evidence/example support an argument, that wind turbine generators,
are an inefficient and      non-sustainable      power source ?

Landfill grapples with burying 900 wind turbine blades — can’t be recycled
September 25, 2019

A Wyoming landfill is burying massive fiberglass wind turbine blades in a huge unlined pit because they’re not recyclable, and there’s no other good use for them.

At least three wind farms in the state are scraping more than 900 old environmentally unfriendly blades that will be sawed into pieces and hauled to the Casper Regional Landfill over the next year.

Casper Solid Waste Manager Cynthia Langston told KGWN the facility is the only one in the state big enough to handle the massive blades, which are expected to take hundreds of years to degrade.

isnt this so typical of the do gooders ?....how much carbon is made making these wind mills??.. I bet its huge as they are huge....how many birds do they kill????? mmmm just asking..

So what percentage of traditional coal fired power stations can be reclaimed, recycled and reused?

Generating energy from wind turbines is promoted as a much more sustainable energy source - than coal.

Correct ?

Or am i misrepresenting,       ....that aspect of the promotion of clean energy tech ?

Is the generation of energy from wind turbines,      ....a much more sustainable and eco friendly energy source, or not ?

p.s.
What about all of the bird kills too ?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2014/09/15/wind-turbines-kill-fewe...

THis is how you link

Wind turbines kill between 214,000 and 368,000 birds annually — a small fraction compared with the estimated 6.8 million fatalities from collisions with cell and radio towers and the 1.4 billion to 3.7 billion deaths from cats, according to the peer-reviewed study by two federal scientists and the environmental consulting firm West Inc.

"We estimate that on an annual basis, less than 0.1% ... of songbird and other small passerine species populations in North America perish from collisions with turbines," says lead author Wallace Erickson of Wyoming-based West.

The study based its estimate on data from 116 studies conducted in the U.S. and Canada, after adjusting for the fact that surveys don't capture all fatalities. Some carcasses are missed by monitors, disappear because of scavenging or decompose before they're counted. Nearly two thirds, or 63%, of reported fatalities were small birds of 156 different species.

I always struggle with these stats....how and who I always want to know.. is someone out there picking up dead birds doing autopsies to see how they died?????...

how many cameras do they have on towers and tall building   maybe even aircraft... how do they know other birds havent killed them???....

too many unanswered questions for me    and  at the end of the day the world still has a very good bird population.....  why I ask about windmills causing bird deaths   is because there are so many of them built close together  on land that is used by birds.... by the sea  is a good start...on island is another....funny how birds are killed by high rise yet they build nest in high places.....

you bojack believe only certain  116 studies.....

if there was 116 studies claiming that was all piss in the wind    you wouldnt believe it... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

am I a skeptic on many things.... yes sir!

Can you be any smacking dumber. Collecting the data is called a metaanalysis is justs about the most powerful study that you can find.

Skepticism on the basis of examining evidence and being cautious is to be applauded.

However I won't be appauding you.

It always amazes me that the Right have suddenly become so concerned about the welfare of birds. They have never shown any interest in environmental matters at any other time.

For the record, the number of birds killed by wind turbines is a small fraction of the number of birds killed by city buildings, power poles and mobile phone towers.

So that is the turbines accounted for. What percentage of the rest?
