Greenies howl Wenny Pong is WRONG
Aug 22nd, 2019 at 2:20pm

Lunatic Extremist Greenies are frothing at the mouth as they go apoplectic over traitor to their "cause" Wenny Pong saying we need COAL to keep the lights on.

Geez won't the hypocrite Islanders feel a bit sheepish as they run to China for more money even tho China is the biggest emitter of everything that is bad.

And widespread blackouts are being predicted as the wonky shaky renewable rubbish falls over just when it is needed.

Labor Senator Penny Wong Slammed For Her “Seriously Disappointing” Comments About Coal
by TOM CLIFT  19 AUGUST 2019

...
Penny Wong on coal

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has come in for a wave of criticism over his behaviour at the Pacific Island Forum in Tuvalu last week. But on the plus side, it turns out Labor wouldn’t have been that much better.

Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama accused Morrison of being “very insulting and condescending”, while New Zealand’s Jacinda Ardern said Australia would have to “answer to the Pacific” on the issue of climate change, after Australia watered down calls for climate action in an official communique, and refused to back calls from low-lying Pacific nations to rapidly scale back global reliance on coal.

It was a callous, shameful display from the government, and seemed like a perfect opportunity for the other lot to take a stand.

Enter Labor Senator Penny Wong.

...
Melbourne Just Got A New Mural Dragging Scott Morrison Over His Weird Obsession With Coal

Wong hit out at Morrison on Saturday, saying his “arrogance has done great damage to our relationships and Australia’s standing in the region,” she said. “He’s undermined the Pacific step-up and alienated our friends … It’s no way to treat our neighbours. At a time when we need closer engagement with our region, Australia’s PM has diminished our influence.”

Sounds pretty good, right? But on Sunday, Wong went on ABC’s Insiders and conceded that Labor wouldn’t have signed up to the plan to ditch coal either.

“Coal is an important industry to Australia,” she said.

Asked by host Patricia Karvelas whether Labor would have signed up to “shutting [coal] down”, Wong replied, “of course not”.

Wong’s poor imitation of an opposition senator did not go down particularly well with folks on social media. Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi tweeted that the comments were “seriously disappointing”, a sentiment that was echoed across the platform.

Correct, I stopped reading Liars bullshit and in this case lowered myself to his level and posted a stupidly ignorant comment.

My bad.

And it is the aging fleet of coal fired generators that are likely to crash offline in the heat:

a decade of uncertainty and a lack of policy direction will lead to a collapse in the system. Then the morons that caused, and juliar, it will happily blame renewables all the whilst shoving their heads up their collective arses.

Excerpts

"The dangers are highest in Victoria, where the Australian Energy Market Operator said more than a million households might at times be forced to endure scorching temperatures without electricity."

They have already closed Hazlewood with the takeup supposedly coming from renewables

"But up to 770,000 homes across the state will face a blackout risk on extreme heat days once the Liddell coal-fired power station plant has closed in 2023-24, unless action is taken, according to AEMO’s latest Electricity Statement of Opportunities."

The replacement is supposed to be renewables and already they are sayig it is going to  get worse when they close Liddell.

"The report said Australia’s power reliability would continue to decline in the next decade, “due to an uncontrollable, but increasingly likely, high-impact” event in the nation’s “ageing coal fleet”."

We won't blame the renewables that were supposed to take up any shortfall.

And of course hot days tend to be windless days. Not guaranteed of course Because some of the worst fires have been on hot windy days.

"Residents and businesses on Australia’s east coast have been warned to prepare for increased risk of blackouts this summer, with more generator failures likely on hot days.

The dangers are highest in Victoria, where the Australian Energy Market Operator said more than a million households might at times be forced to endure scorching temperatures without electricity.

AEMO said NSW was projected to meet its reliability standard “with a more comfortable margin this summer” than last.

AEMO said unplanned shutdowns at Victoria’s Loy Yang A2 and Mortlake 2 power stations posed a significant likelihood of leaving residents with insufficient supply – which might lead to involuntary load shedding.

“Compared to last year’s forecast, AEMO observes greater risks of load shedding due to uncontrollable, but increasingly likely, high-impact (‘tail risk’) events such as simultaneous unplanned outages during hot days,” the report said.

It urgently called for more electricity supply or other solutions to meet high summer demand.

In NSW, the gradual closure of the Liddell coal-fired power station and a combination of high summer demand and unplanned generator outages would leave residents “exposed to significant supply gaps and involuntary load shedding” at peak times.

AEMO said Australia needed to invest in dispatchable power, such as coal, gas, battery and pumped hydro, to meet the expected shortfall during peak demand as older coal plants closed in the coming decade."

No mention of renewables there.

"Ageing coal-fired power stations would be to blame for any summer blackouts in Victoria, the Climate Council argued.

Australia’s modern energy system needed more large-scale renewables such as solar and wind paired with storage, the group said."

I guess the Climate Council call renewables "dispatchable".

Here is what Penny Wong said in full....When you read the full statement Wong was criticising the Coalition for their lack of action on climate change and rightly so....Context is important which is why the full statement was omitted to push a false narrative....Not unusual for Coalition grubs!!!

Quote:
Federal Labour has slammed Prime Minister Scott Morrison for botching Pacific Island negotiations this week despite backing the coal industry.

Opposition frontbencher Penny Wong said Labor would not have agreed to ban the creation of new coal mines as suggested by some small Pacific Island nations when leaders from the region met this week.

“Of course not,” she told ABC’s Insiders on Sunday.

“Coal remains an important industry for Australia and it remains part of the global energy mix.”

Small island states had also called for an immediate global ban on new coal-fired power plants and coal mines.

Senator Wong said coal is just one matter Pacific Island nations are concerned about, accusing Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s government of failing on other scores.

“The point is, these negotiations proceeded on the basis of an Australian government that did not understand or respect the importance of climate to Pacific Island nations,” she said.

“(It) did not bring to the table any realistic policies to reduce emissions, which is the core of what we should be doing as a responsible nation.”

There have been concerns about China exerting its influence in the region and Senator Wong said the way the forum played out won’t help Australia be seen by its neighbours as a “partner of choice”.

“I think we have diminished our influence in the Pacific with our refusal to take climate change seriously.”

So it is exactly as stated. They are not opposing any new mines.

Not hard to understand what Penny Wong was criticising the Morrison Government for....The fact the full statement was omitted from the OP deleted the context of what Penny Wong's criticism was about....She was not criticising the Morrison Government for their stand on coal mines she was criticising the Morrison Government for it's lack of action on Climate Change....The Coalition has no Climate Change policy of any worth and deserves the condemnation they receive!!!

So let's see.

Coal emits CO2 which is purportedly engendering apocalyptic climate change.

So it would seem that to stop engendering this purported apocalyptic climate change there should be a policy to stop the coal mines.

Labor has said they have no such plans.

Does Labor believe or merely mouth the mantra that they believe?

The Greeny Kangyroo blows her cover.

Why is the Greeny MUNK from the GetUp! Propaganda Site allowed here ?  When will he be banned again ?

These dreamers are clinging to the myth of Global Warming.

And the sea level has not changed one little bit even tho Mr Flannery was being paid by Gillard to say it would be 10 meters higher by now.

Wenny Pong is trying to save the already shattered disintegrating Labor Party from extinction or merging with the Lunatic Extremist Greenies by trying to seek salvation from some of the ScoMo Messiah's winning aura.

Penny Wong is correct....The Coalition have no policy to cut greenhouse gases....Every policy that has been proposed has been shut down by the far right climate change deniers....Labor would have supported Malcolm Turnbull's NEG but the far right climate change deniers, News Corp and the Mining companies who control the Coalition have ensured there will never be any meaningful policies to combat greenhouse gases and any Liberal leader who tries will be stabbed in the back....Morrison is a lame duck with no policies which is what he is being criticized for and rightly so!!!

Philly is pumping GetUp! Propaganda again. How many of the Lefties and Greenies here are members of the slimy GetUp! ?

The Libs DO have a policy of reducing pollution etc and they are already well in the way to achieving the Paris figures.

Bear in mind that Australia's TOTAL emissions of all that's bad are tiny and microscopic compared to China and India and the USA.

So closing down everything in Australia including the Greenies and the slimy GetUp! will not make the SLIGHTEST difference to anything.

This is precisely what the ScoMo Messiah and his new disciple Wenny Pong are saying to the money hungry Islanders and to anyone else who will listen.

The greatest achievement of the Lunatic Extremist Greenies is the KILLING of countless birds by their mostly useless Windymills which are predicted to cause BLACKOUTS this summer.

Has nobody learnt from the crippled power network in Sth Australia where countless pollution spewing diesel generators and gas generators are standing ready to prop up the power network during the frequent failures of the useless renewables.

Bet Munky from his GetUp! Propaganda Site wishes he could delete all these truthful factual posts like he does in his farcical GetUp! Propaganda Site.
