You're talking about Stalinism - a dictatorial central government decreeing all values and controlling the economy and every other part of life.

We have nothing even remotely near that in the West... most of which is socialist to some degree.

Do try to stop confusing the two....

Grin Forbes - a well known capitalist publication that run by bankers upon which the American taxpayer had to bail out. If Forbes knew history they would realize many of those governments are not socialism but rather despotism and Communism.

Communism is a bit different to socialism.

And North Korea is anything but communism.  Well, at least not the sense written by Marx.

I think Australia is a good example of socialism: medicare, public education, pension, NDIS, and even the Australian Army, are examples of Socialism that made Australia a better to live.

Another good example of global socialism is the internet.   Smiley

Capitalism has dragged about 3 billion people into the middle class.
Definitely the best system

Capitalism expects each individual to make a sacrifice and offer value to others ,so as to get paid.

It is enforced altruism.

Socialism agrees that a sacrifice needs to be made but puts the onus on " other" to sacrifice for "me"

It is a downward spiral of selfishness and taking.

A mix of capitalism and socialism... capitalism unbound leads to Robber Barons, master/servant, company store, and all the other evils of the past.

So ScoMo and kind are all ultra-socialists intent on destroying the middle classes?

The problem is that people don't notice just how much goes right in a modern capitalist country

They just take things for granted
They don't realise that the Natural history of humanity is brutal full of scarcity
They don't appreciate just how rare it is for there to be peace. Running hot and cold water
Obesity is now more of a problem than famine
You aren't likely to be speared going to the supermarket

Modern human beings living in this incredible society that has been constructed for them through the hard work of capitalists should fall to their knees and with tears of joy and gratitude for this miracle

But they don't

They are so lazy they won't even look at history and see the disaster that failed ideologies like marxism usher in

They think that they can construct a Utopia based on the brotherhood of man
They honestly believe that if they had been in Russia in 1919
They would have been the sort of people to bring on the Utopia

They don't realise that even if they were those sort of people they would have been murdered by 1920

Marxism socialism has been tried multiple times in multiple locations and is an absolute catastrophe

the morons who keeps screaming bring on the revolution have no idea just how bad things could get if ever The Noble competent capitalists were removed from Power

It is entirely appropriate and desirable that competent people rise to the top and run stuff

The activist types think that waving a placard is doing something constructive
This is because they are too lazy to go to university study hard come up with a real solutions climb the dominance hierarchy and then implement their knowledge
Laziness leads to craziness

Your "natural state" without the culture which supports you ( a capitalist culture) would be for you to be awoken tonight at midnight, stripped naked and dropped by chopper into the jungle.

Everything that you have that keeps you safe and secure is a consequence of the efforts of noble capitalists who built it to keep your dumb ass safe.  Learn some gratitude

I'd admit that the scenario that seems to work best is that we allow some capitalism but ensure strong governement control to stop it getting out of control and to ensure a minimum standard for everyone.
