Who are the violent people ?

Who are the one's who refuse to allow self-expression [for everyone] ?

Who are the one's who want to disallow an open public forum or an open 'public square', for the debate of ideas [for everyone] ?

Who are the one's who want to disallow 'a contest of ideas' ?

Who do    not    want to ALLOW all people, the chance to hear a different idea or a different hypothesis, or a different proposition or [mental] conclusion ?

And then [after consideration], allow all people, to passively, either agree with, or disagree with, the validity of the arguments which have been presented ?

Those type of individuals, are called fascists.

In another time, they were called 'Nazis' and 'Communists',
...but they were never called Liberals.

To the LEFTIST fascists of circa 2019, what they call, 'HATE SPEECH',
is the expression of any idea, which they cannot agree with.

.

QUESTION;
Isn't free and open [public] debate meant to be     A CONTEST OF IDEAS !?
....where every folly can be exposed ?

And isn't that, precisely why such debate is prohibited, in a political state like the People's Republic of China today ?

university = = a high-level educational institution in which students study for degrees and [where] academic research is done.

QUESTION;
How can a [university] student conduct valid research, if he/she refuses to examine every available hypothesis and every available evidence and argument ?

enlightenment = =
1 the action of enlightening or the state of being enlightened.     the attainment of spiritual insight, in particular (in Buddhism) that awareness which frees a person from the cycle of rebirth.
2 a European intellectual movement of the late 17th and 18th centuries emphasizing reason and individualism rather than tradition.

"I consider that willingness to criticize Russia and Stalin is the test of intellectual honesty."
- George Orwell, to his friend John Middleton Murry, a wartime pacifist

"Nothing is gained by teaching a parrot a new word. What is needed is the right to print what one believes to be true, without having to fear bullying or blackmail from any side."
- George Orwell
ideology vs. truth

"To admit that an opponent might be both honest and intelligent is felt to be intolerable.
It is more immediately satisfying to shout that he is a fool or a scoundrel, or both, than to find out what he is really like."
- George Orwell

There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation.
- Herbert Spencer
