Trickle down is a lie. You should know that by now.

It was just a throw away line invented by a comedian in the '40s.

Maybe so but virtually every conservative government have lived by it for at least the last 40 years. For example every time Howard gave a huge increase to big business or the wealthy he espoused the benefits of trickle down.

Maybe they know that it is a lie, a convenient excuse to give it all to their mates while pretending that we will all benefit.

Yes a joke but it has been played on workers for decades. Not funny in the slightest.

Like what ?

Trickle down is a lie. You should know that by now.

It was just a throw away line invented by a comedian in the '40s.

That is quite blatant handwaving. It doesn't matter what you call it - horse and sparrow theory, supply side economics - the theory is the same. By any name, it is a lie.

Horseshit. Find me one decent economic textbook or peer reviewed paper that even pays the slightest attention to these comedic words. Just one will do.

Horseshit yourself. It's in the Oxford Dictionary: trickle down. Limiting it to the narrow scope you've chosen is irrelevant because the same concept can have different names. Furthermore, whining about the name does not refute the argument that the concept is a lie.

All a dictionary does is spell out the meaning of words. The technical veracity of the word is of no consequence to Mr Oxford. There is no such thing as trickle down, conceptually or otherwise. It is reserved for comedians and commentators that don't know what they're waffling about.

I'll say this again: Whining about the name does not refute the argument that the concept is a lie.

If you disagree with the assertion that it is a lie, name one country where giving money to the rich has eradicated poverty. Just one will do.

Are there any that have eradicated poverty by giving the poor truckloads of money. Just one will do.

Your refusal to answer is eloquent.

No country has ever tried to eradicate poverty. Not one. The rich won't allow it because they prefer to keep poverty in place as a threat.

The top decile pays 50% of the taxes in this country. Giving freebies to the rich my arse.

Diddums. The top decile owns more than 50% of the wealth. They're undertaxed because their share of unearned wealth is growing. That means everyone else has to make do with less because total wealth is finite.

Absolute fukkin' horseshit.

Handwaving isn't a refutation. Now you're failing basic mathematics. Maybe you believe the economic lie of perpetual economic growth on a finite planet? It's impossible, of course, but anyone who says otherwise is indulging in pseudoscience.

The perpetual increase in standard of living since the caveman days all the way to now must have happened by black magic. OK, now I get it.

Fukk me dead. You said wealth is finite. Yet living standards have grown in perpetuity since the cavemen days despite ongoing population growth. Bam's black magic at work.
