These students are the greatest beneficiaries and consumers of a fossil fuel economy. I bet they will refuse to take one step back from their high energy consumption lives in a transition away from fossil fuels.
They should study some math.
.. and they will be better served with renewables such as the Setanta Scheme through the Great Dividing Range, diverting water to the inland and generating power, and the twin GAIA schemes of The Grappler, and a host of renewables such as wind and sun coming online rapidly...
Start-up costs are always high for new systems - look at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the NSW Government Railways ... transport made this country, and the Snowy Hydro, financed over the long term, powered it...... and prices should reflect the LONG term and not the short term smash and grab current style of 'privatised' business for basic utilities....
If a government can afford the Sydney to Brisbane Freeway, they can afford bigger and more encompassing utilities that benefit the majority for a change.... s'all a matter of priorities... innit!
