The Ban was a demand by the U.S. Secret Service
(the elite squad that guards the U.S. President, Vice-President, ex-Presidents & VPs, members of Congress, & other VIPs & dignitaries) which is customary where ever they go, but know full well that the Secret Service is always armed to the eyeballs, with full discretion to use lethal force, for any reason they deem necessary.

The NRA has nothing to do with the ban while the VP is there. All they do is pass-the-word. They are under the Secret Service's total control, as is the entire event.

You are mistaken, the NRA has no problem with the legally armed citizen. The Secret Service takes the safety of those they protect to the extreme. When the Annual meeting came to Houston thousands of attendees including yours truely were armed during the speeches given by Sarah Palin, John Bolton, Ted Cruz, Rick Perry and a few others. When I attended the Louisville meeting it was common to see people wearing sidearms in the open.

I can't speak for them, but IMHO, being justifiably cautious is not the same as being scared.

Being scared is a government, or a society, not willing to trust it's law abiding citizens with the Right to effectively defend themselves with firearms.

It's been estimated that in well over 90% of all violent crimes, where the authorities were called for help before the crime, the police show up after the crime has already been committed. That's why the police are issued chalk.

IMHO......Personal responsibility is the better answer.

Thats not security, thats allowing rednecks to openly carry weapons

Well over 16,000,000 Americans
carry their firearms concealed everywhere, on & off the job, & the number is increasing by thousands per day........cops, teachers, taxi drivers, politicians, waiters, the clergy, talk show hosts, hotel doormen, celebrities, doctors, students, girl scout leaders, boy scout leaders, auto repairmen, real estate agents, salesmen, etc.., etc.., etc.., etc.., etc..

There is no knowing how many are carrying a firearm concealed without a permit, even though in some States (13 States as of 2017 14 States as of April, 2018) it is legal to carry a concealed firearm without any permit required.....it's called Constitutional Carry, where the Second Amendment is your carry permit, & it never expires.

In America, it's estimated that only a few hundred thousand actually carry their firearms openly.
