Sorry fella, that's your opinion, & you're entitled to it, but America belongs to the Americans & the Americans only, & they kinda like it just the way it is, & wouldn't have her any other way.
They like individual States Rights, & a Federal Government that, because of the Bill of Rights (the first 10 Amendments to the US Constitution), stays out of their lives & leaves them alone. They like the Freedoms & Liberties they have come to cherish. They like the 50 Stars & 13 Stripes on their flag, & they won't be changin' that any time soon......for you, or anyone else. People sometimes think they are uncivilized, but frankly they just don't give a damn what those people think, or better yet what the world thinks of their 'uncivilized' way of life.
That's your opinion and that's fine. But let me say this, too many small jurisdictions means that said jurisdiction won't have the financial resources to support itself adequately. Let's take healthcare for example: Wyoming could never have enough financial resources to create for itself a universal healthcare system; whereas New York State could. Wyoming therefor has to rely on the Federal government more. Therefore, having too many States actually has the opposite effect to what Federalists want - it only serves to enlarge the centralised government, not to reduce it. Well, when the Queen is dead, & that's just around the corner, & Chucky dons her jewels, Australia will drop out of the Commonwealth & become a Republic.....England won't be able to support it's socialistic habits....like M.T. said, Socialism always fails when they run out of other people's money. Bye-Bye NHS......the EU won't be bailin' out your sorry asses no matter how hard ya beg to get back in! Haha. Sure, we might become a Republic, but we'll still retain the Westminster system, and not your basket-case presidential system. And we don't need the EU to bail us out or anyone else. Oh, my bad, all along I took ya for a Pom......just a £10 Pom.....all in all you're probably just a monarchist teeterin' on public denial.....the rooster crows thrice.....mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa
Well, we're all Poms, Panther. Any person who lives in a country whose Head of State is the Queen of Britain is actually a Pom. Aussie(s) just doesn't like to admit it. If you are a citizen of a Commonwealth Realm nation, you are a British subject. It's the dirty little secret that no one wants to talk about. Or admit. Ok, so based on your response, my statement still stands just as valid as before your retort.
