He doesn't realise that aircraft maintenance is just a job and does not require embellishment, where-as 'gook killing' well that is a whole different issue.

Also he is confusing the digital maintenance reporting capabilities of the FA-18 with the go find it yourself you're a the Techo maintenance capabilities of the F-111.

You still don't believe the dude is fkking deranged? Grin

My marble didn't come up, but two brothers I worked with got the call. A couple of years later they returned, changed men, and soon left the company.

One of the biggest 'grievances' (if that's what it can be called) of returned vets who have been in combat situations is that upon returning home to Australia they know that no one except fellow-vets have a clue what it was like to be under fire and hoping to stay alive.

That makes them feel very lonely and cut-off from normal society.

I think the whole thing, politically, was toxic for those blokes, let alone getting moved from eg a job in the local Court House to getting shot at in some joint called 'Vietnam,' not one of them could give a stuff about.

The other aspect was.....these 20 year old mates of mine would go to the Bundy Railway Station in civilian gear......and.......off to oblivion, or PTSD.

Appalling.
