Refuelling aircraft remote from any war zone and in less danger than the average desk jockey is not something to dine out on. In fact it reeks of desperation to try to be somehow important because you have achieved nothing else in life other than to be a low level grunt performing a mediocre job. And yes Big ole I have been in war zones. What about you? I was also in Butterworth in  the early 80s , no claim to fame there.

Errr, refuelling aircraft is actually quite a dangerous job, Rhino.   You need to make sure that the fuel pump is earthed, the aircraft is earthed and that the fuel supply is earthed as well.  You need to wear rubber soled boots.  There is a big danger of a spark setting the whole lot off.   Roll Eyes
Show how many people were killed or injured refuelling aircraft in the last ten years. Lots of "dangerous" jobs around if the person is untrained. Big woop.

Yeah, there is no such mustering in the RAAF as an aircraft refueler, you'd be thinking about the army.

There are fuel tanker driver and there are maintainers, but there is an aircraft refueler.

So you need to let this one go, champ  Smiley Smiley

You're not quite the innocent you portray yourself as, mate.  You deliberately provoke people with your attitudes.  It is well travelled street down which you travel.  While I'll help protect you on your service record you leave yourself wide open with your other attitudes.  You act like a 12 year old most of the time, ranting and screaming about someone or something.  You're younger than me by at least a decade.  You act like a schoolboy most of the time.  Tsk, tsk.  Roll Eyes

Butterworth carries on like a hysterical old tart who's lost her hearing aid.

Don't think I've ever met one Vietnam Vet that you would call a lefty. In fact most have been conservative voters. Very anti Labor.

Then you've never met one Vietnam vet then, son. Good for you.

How the f#*k would you know?

I speak to one every odd afternoon having a beer. One of my best mates has 2 brothers that went to Vietnam.

I worked with a multi tour vet ..... none of them were leftard apologists like you.

And I've noticed a certain change in your presentation on here?

Has someone finally got you outed as your real self or are you just role playing again?

No female soldiers in Viet Nam - nursing staff maybe, but not even necessarily in-country.

Nurses were members of the Royal Australian Medical Corps and were soldiers too, Graps.  They served in South Vietnam, at 3 Base Hospital at Vung Tau.  They were also sent out on the occasional Medical support mission to help the Vietnamese people.  I'd suggest you read the book, "Minefields and Miniskirts" by Siobhan McHugh.  An excellent little history of Australian women during the Vietnam War.

Quote:
No dis-respect, but let's just keep the facts straight.  It's not like nowadays, when it is distinctly possible for a female soldier to engage in contact, though they are not generally placed in that position as a matter of policy or operational requirement.

Today, all ECNs are now open to women, Graps.  Provided they can pass the tests required for that role.   Women are not allowed to be banned from serving in any role by "policy or operational requirement."

Quote:
Universally, the direct combat role is given to men - for the same old reasons that have been around for millions of years now.  Facts do not cause hurt.

Except that ended two years ago (and so it should have).  Provided a female can satisfy the (realistic) requirements, there is nothing stopping them from fulfilling that role.  I have served beside women who have been just as fit, just as strong and just as smart as any male but they were barred from serving in combat units because of their gender because of sexism like yours.  It was pointless and it was silly.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

And you about the biggest wanker in this forum.

Women never served in the frontline operations in Vietnam ... medical patrols to assist Viets don't count.

As to what is now allowed that's the sort of ADF you should have been in ... you could fill any role that women do .... in spades you skirt.

I know quite a few Vietnam Vets.  Many are from the Left, some from the Right, some from the Middle.  Many are grateful that the Left got them out of Vietnam.   Which is more than the Right ever did, hey?   Roll Eyes
