Dr Bassel Abdul Rahman was arrested at his Connells Point home, in Sydney's south, on Sunday over charges he indecently assaulted a victim under his authority at the Miranda Medical Centre on March 27.

A police statement of facts tendered to the court alleged that the 45-year-old GP assaulted the 25-year-old woman and committed an act of indecency, by “kiss[ing] her on the cheek and neck whilst rubbing her back and then sit[ting] her down on his lap”.

It is also alleged the doctor rubbed the victim’s right thigh “in circumstances of aggravation,” while she was under his authority as her doctor.

A position of trust of one of the moral codes in the healthcare system. Seeing that he would be dealing with peoples bits it's very important. That's why this is taken so seriously. It's like cops dealing drugs.
