I'd be interested to know how a driverless vehicle would navigate while towing my boat?

And getting the boat down the boat ramp and recovering it again would also be quite interesting.

But from the way some vegitable attempt to launch and retrieve their boats, it couldn't be much worse.

Your last attempt didn't go all that well, did it Valkie?

Think I will stick with my local Elite Cabs that owners have paid good money for not some shonkey mob!

It cost us $140 AUD to take three people to Melbourne airport in a minibus. That is equivalent to RM 450 in malaysian dollars. All 30 grab trips we took in Malaysia didn't even come to half that amount !!

You stick to your elite cab. You are being ripped off blind by a system that is used to ripping everyone off.

It costs me more to get a cab from the airport to the start of Southern Cross drive than it does to take the longest possible taxi trip in Singapore. All in a car that is at least as modern and usually cleaner than cabs in Sydney.

Yes all of the Grab cars were at least 5 years old. They have access to all of the rego records so they know how old the cars are. No old cars in the fleet they didn't have to pay for Wink By comparison the taxis lined up consisted of smelly old clapped out Proton Wira cars more than 10 years old Cheesy LOL

A woman is believed to have become the first pedestrian killed by a self-driving car, prompting Uber to suspend testing of its autonomous vehicles.

Police in a Phoenix suburb said a self-driving vehicle struck and killed the woman overnight Sunday (local time).

The vehicle was in autonomous mode with an operator behind the wheel when the accident occurred, Tempe police Sergeant Ronald Elcock said.

The woman, 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg, died of her injuries at a hospital.

So uber wants to get rid of the actual drivers? That will bugger up a lot of jobs.

Don't single out Uber. Just about all car manufactures are working on various levels of automation.

Yes, but cars themselves will disappear if they try and push for full automation: what's the point having different cars if they no longer represent you. Once they go full auto what is to stop them being shared.... the money will disappear from the industry as most of it's a fashion statement!

What's a house: the average persons most expensive fashion statement. The car is the second most!

Don't be thinking this is a hop-skip and a jump... anyone that says otherwise is a friggin' comedian!

My question

These cars are very accurate and track all movement as well as possible collision

How did the woman get in the road of this vehicle?

Did she walked out zombi like from behind another vehicle while playing with he phone?

Pedestrians truly need to get with the programme
Cars should have the right of way on the road
The only exceptions should be where there is a crossing or traffic lights

This crap about pedestrians always having the right of way is insane and only in place so that the grubberment can blame someone to pay for the idiots injuries.

I taught my children and grandchildren to know that the road is a dangerous place and to stay off it
And if you do have to cross it, keep a wary eye out and never assume the driver sees you

Something this pedestrian should have learned
It might just have saved their life.

On backstreets don't pedestrians have right of way?

This will have to change with automatic cars, surely??!!??

Go the stockmarket and pathological dreams of exponential profit!

In Malaysia Grab has taken off in a big way and is overtaking Uber. Everyone with a late model car is jumping on the bandwagon and is either doing it full time or part time to supplement their income. The fares are dirt cheap, I mean really dirt cheap and it makes no different if it is one passenger or four passengers, it's the same price. 9RM gets you a fare into the city or about 10km's. That's equivalent of $3 AUD !! Lots of people who didn't have a job now have a job and it's basically decimated the taxi industry. Hardly a taxi in sight now !!

How much do cars cost over there?

Surely the same problem of drivers not getting paid enough for the wear and tear on their vehicle will have to kick in?

Shocked

Tesla's turn.

Link.

Quote:
A Tesla vehicle was on Autopilot when it crashed in California last month, killing the driver, the company has confirmed.

It becomes the latest accident involving a self-driving vehicle after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car being tested by Uber in Arizona last month.

Tesla said the driver, who was killed in the accident in Mountain View in California's Silicon Valley, did not have his hands on the steering wheel for six seconds before the crash, despite several warnings from the vehicle.
