Not quite. Sharīʿah, also spelled Sharia, literally means “the clear, well-trodden path to water.” Muslims use the term to refer to Islamic law. Really??? So when people talk of it, they are referring to directions to the WC. poo law, in other words. Yes, really. Sharīʿah, also spelled Sharia, literally means “the clear, well-trodden path to water.” Muslims use the term to refer to Islamic law. It's pretty straight forward stuff - what part of it don't you understand? The bit I don't understand is the bit where I believe on face value anything that Islamic scholars say. You know the whole 72 virgins became 72 white raisins, now it's 72 grapes. Any language that wants me to blow myself up so I can ferk a bunch of grapes has serious credibility issues with me. There seems to be an awful lot you don't understand. However, I like to help others so I'm trying to reduce your level of ignorance. Sharia means " the clear, well-trodden path to water" in Arabic. Now you know. Can you cite any more sites that give that meaning? Seems an incredibly short word of a whole sentence. I could believe it if it meant clear path but not a whole sentence. That does not mean Sharia Law means anything else but that which is said in your link... Quote:Islamically, it is used to refer to the matters of religion that God has legislated for His servants. IE, it means a path Moslems should follow. Including all the nasties. https://books.google.com.au/books?id=vwF5AgAAQBAJ&pg=PA79&lpg=PA79&dq=%E2%80%9Ct...https://books.google.com.au/books?id=D9AueN0S16UC&pg=PT17&lpg=PT17&dq=%E2%80%9Ct...https://books.google.com.au/books?id=GbynCwAAQBAJ&pg=PA153&lpg=PA153&dq=%E2%80%9...https://www.sbs.com.au/news/explainer/what-sharia-lawhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/islam/beliefs/sharia_1.shtmlhttp://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/930852/sharia-link-to-sydney-lashing/etc. OK. And in Islamic Law it means? From your link again. Quote:Dr Jamila Hussain, a research associate at the University of Technology Sydney told SBS, Sharia encompasses all aspects of a Muslim’s life.
“The overriding principle of Sharia is justice. It’s very broad and includes ordinary ways of life, for example how you behave towards other people. Religious duties like prayer and fasting and giving to charity – which is very important,” she said.
“It also includes how you behave towards other people. And it includes things like commercial law, inheritance law, family law.”
Sharia is the moral, legal and religious code followed by all Muslims, but made notorious by extremist groups like Islamic State wanting to implement hardline aspects of Islamic law.
