Dangerous Dogs

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/police-consider-penalty-against-grand...

So a grandma has a vicious Rotty that needs to be tied up ?
Why ?

Dogs are not native to Australia so for sure we could easily ban certain breeds. Any dog bred for fighting should be banded from the general public. I would allow scope for killer dogs in policing and security.

Why parents think big vicious dogs and kids are a good mix is beyond me.

Maybe they need the laws to be changed so people like her in the future can be done for manslaughter !

Oh, you mean the other dangerous dogs?

I believe that a dogs temperament depends on how one treats it.

All dogs are loyal and nonjudgemental

Treat them with love and you get love back.

From what I have seen they are highly trained and only attack on command
Its very funny watch these petty crims suddenly become compliant when the dogs come out on cop shows.

Agree to a point but certain breeds can be banned from the public purely on capability and reputation of the breed such as pit dogs ...... they are not much use in policing or security either.

FYI this case the dog was known to be aggressive this is not such a case, but even a well behaved dog can snap.

The whole problem is not the dog or the dog breed ..... it's irresponsible owners.

No dogs in Australia are "bred" to fight.

Some are better suited for that but any breed of dog can be conditioned to fight.

And that's what happens .... unscrupulous & irresponsible owners condition dogs to do that.

If you want to follow that through to a lefties view .... neither are you or should you exist in Australia.

Is that fair?

I'd say not ..... & the Aboriginals brought Dingoes here.

I didn't say that unscrupulous people don't breed dogs for fighting ....... but you show me where you can ever see evidence of it going on?

I'm saying the dogs have to be conditioned to it.....

many of the breeds of dogs they use are better built for it ..... but that doesn't make those dogs dangerous from birth.

People do that.

And if you noticed on those Australian stats .... Rottweilers have killed more people in Australia.... than any Pitbull.

Most fighting dogs are xbreeds anyway.

And my theory as you call it ... has SFA to do with anything pure as white snow.

More children are savaged & bitten in the face by little house bound woolly woofters like Chihuahuas, /King Charles spaniel/Shitzu/Pekinese/minature poodle crosses than any big dogs.

Cattle Dogs, Border Collies,Fox Terriers & Jack Russells are all known biters.

Yeah but will the result of a 10 second attack on a toddler by a Chihuahua be different from a pittbull?

Some dogs are more dangerous than others.

Any big dog has the capacity to do more damage than a Chihuahua ..... so?

Dogs are made dangerous by the owners.

Irresponsible owners & irresponsible parents

don't leave young children alone with big dogs

or little savage dogs.

Cats have been known to suffocate infants.

Ban cats?

You know sfa about dogs.  Small dogs will bite something in their proximity, they won't go into attack mode and hunt something down.

When's the last time a Chihuahua jumped a fence and ripped a toddlers throat out?

I really don't care whose "fault" it is. Casting blame won't save some kid from getting mauled by a large dog.

The fact is that large dogs are dangerous and have no place in an urban environment.
