Just another thing for lee and socko to pray for that this car doesn't make it to our shores

I have no problem if you buy an EV. You sure do like to make stuff up about what I say. Of course at that price it may be in your price range.

I won't buy one. 300km wouldn't get me to perth. Wink

No one drives 300 km per day!

Case Closed!

aussie average is 40km's a day , wow there r petrol cars that will goto perth without refuelling ? Cheesy Cheesy Wink

https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1116932_sono-sion-solar-electric-car-promis...
A little shorter than a Chevy Bolt EV, the Sion will be made of polycarbonate plastic body panels over an aluminum space frame. It  uses a 35-kwh battery, and Hahn claims a range of 155 miles.
Although the car will have a CCS fast-charge port, solar panels covering the roof and sides of the car provide up to 18 miles of travel a day in the summertime. In winter, the solar range could drop to as few as 3 miles a day.
Hahn says the car could make a good alternative for buyers who want an electric car but may live in an apartment or condominium where they don't have access to home charging and can't put solar panels on their roofs.
To save cost, the car won't be painted, but will come with glossy black polycarbonate body panels that Hahn says could be cheaper to replace after minor accident damage—even with their integrated solar panels—than painted steel panels on conventional cars.

So that's 30km's a day from solar ,Australians do a average of 40km's a day so after a day in the sun it will cost 30 cents a day to recharge the difference, on a crappy day will be a Dollar to recharge.

And being "glossy black" they won't need airconditioning. Wink

so according to our resident druggie - DRAH - no one drives more than 300kms. Except that a LOT of people do and many do it often.

Dont debase the debate by pretending that people dont need long-distance driving cars.

As for driving from her to Perth. No, I cant do it on a full tank, but I can find 500 petrol stations between here and there and zero superchargers. Every other charging point is at best 7kw and possibly considerably less.

The problem is that EV evangalists want you to believe that petrol cars can be easily and completely replaced by EVs. They cant. I even watched a reviewer of the Jaguar iPace and he commented that while driving in country Portugal, he experienced 'range stress' because he knew that if he ran low on charge, there was nowhere to recharge while if it were petrol, there were dozens of options.  its a real thing.

If you love EVs and want to promote them then you need to understand that this is a real problem for real drivers in the real world. What would solve it largely would be an EV with a 2500km range. That way recharging could be incremental and still permit real long driving.

It seems that Tesla is looking for a profit, something some say is already occurring.

Quote:
Tesla said it plans to cut 9% of its workforce as part of a restructuring intended to reduce costs and boost profitability.

The layoffs at Elon Musk's electric car company come as it tries to increase production of its Model 3 sedan and turn a quarterly profit this year.

Tesla said the more than 3,000 cuts would affect mostly salaried employees, excluding workers producing its cars.

Mr Musk said the job cuts were a "difficult decision".

Tesla employed more than 37,000 people at the end of last year.

"Given that Tesla has never made an annual profit in the almost 15 years since we have existed, profit is obviously not what motivates us," he wrote in an email to employees and posted on Twitter.

So for the 0.01% that drive 300km or more per day you want Tesla to close down their factories and stop selling their cars Cheesy LOL

Who says that idiot ? No one makes that claim. If you are stupid enough to keep filling up at the fool bowser and getting ripped off on parts and service then you deserve to get ripped off.

You and your oily mates should just stop trying to take the choice away from the consumer which until now have never had when it came to cars. Both Holden and Ford kept making cars that ticked all of your boxes and yet they went bust doing so whilst we kept paying them. Where are they now ?

Tesla on the other hand have so many orders they are behind in deliveries and all you lot can do is hope they go broke so none of these orders get fulfilled Sad And you reckon I have a cynical outlook on everything. F.ckoff longprong.

https://insideevs.com/gulplugs-p-plate-a-self-plug-in-charging-station-w-video/
The P-Plate is kind of a self plug-in system with 40 centimeters of self-adjustment with magnetic guidance and self plug-out device. The charging cable is retracted into the car.
There are no efficiency losses, as in the case of wireless charging, but convenience should be similar. Also, the price of the P-Plate should be no higher than a conventional home charging station, according to the company. Though no official pricing has been announced.

So now when u park your EV at night it plugs itself in.
No more having to goto a gas station , not even having to remember to plug the car in at night.
The against ticks r slowly getting less and less. Wink Wink

Yeah. We all know about Tesla's manufacturing problems. Good spin to make it seem a plus though. Wink
