You know I don't mind volunteering, when I was a young fellow, around 22, I went on a camp to look after a bunch of extremely autistic kids, they we a hoot. Wheel stands in their chairs drive them around crazy, they loved it. I doubt I would get away with what I did with them in their chairs today. Duty of care and all.

There's more stories I could tell about those kids but it's for another time, rather sad ones. I'm glad I could bring a little joy into their lives by being over the top "you laugh, we do it!"

As far I've heard 'tard is still used here. Not for retarded people, ie "developmentally challenged" but for normal people that are just too stupid for their own or other's good.
