People didn't overspend on their credit cards for Christmas?

Sounds like good news to me. Wink

$26 billion doesn't sound like "slammed shut".

Well Lefties you shouldn't have squandered your WELFARE.

There are more jobs now than you can poke a stick at and there are now actual job vacancies which make Lefties shy away in fear as they consider work to be dirty and above them.

As competition for staff begins then the supply and demand effect will kick in and employers will offer more just to get empoyees and so the wage will increase.

THIS is the trickle down effect about which the Lefties are just SO ignorant. Then when did LW ever know anything about anything as he just wants attention.

So what penalty rates were cut ?
Sounds like you typical ramblings there were changes brought in not by the government !
Wages not moving is a good and bad thing so don't see any facts at all but then you look who posted this rubbish then it all makes sense !

Actually I do, also I looked at my latest super balance best performance I have seen in a very long time.
Not to sure about the next maybe the stock market corrections may impact the next.
Also in my area house prices went up 21.8% the highest in Sydney.

Wife bought a brand New BMW 2.5 years ago (upgraded her old one) and we are looking to do 75K of overdue reno's on the house.

Eastern Subs is awash with money. Personally I'm hoping interest rates go up a bit and trigger a few sales of people who've over extended.

It may be regional WA seems to be suffering but in NSW  big orders of concrete can be subject to a 6-8 week lead time....... tradies (especially sparkies)  are in high demand as well as white-collar project manager roles in the civil eng space .... some suburbs in Sydney have less that 2% unemployment, most economic experts say 3% is full employment.

I do find it a mystery why this has not translated into wages growth but time will tell.

RSF,

the reality is wages are still propped up by the previous competition for employees years ago and don't reflect the actual productivity of the employees.

See wages almost NEVER drop because the union parasites would go berserk.

But now as competition for staff hots up eventually employers will offer more money just to win good productive employees.

This is the trickle down effect that leaves the Welfare Dependent Lefties totally confused as they do not participate in the job market.

Not sure what you are hoping for in the long term house prices double about every decade which is about 5-10% growth and that is pretty consistent through high and low interest rate periods. Given how low they are and its the foreign markets that keep them low, it will be a long time before we see any real impact of interest rate hikes. Given we just saw a huge correction in the stock market I think the rates will be on hold for a while.

I agree some fall out of the tree when rates are high, we tend to buy when rates are high as we did with our current property...... we bought from a guy 2 weeks away from bankruptcy, he needed a quick sale which we arranged via a property developer and his bank contacts ..... bought the place for 100k below market value.

I think the foolish people (as you pointed out) buy and over extend when rates are low.
When rates are low a rule I apply is can you pay the mortgage if interest rates double ? Often properties are overvalued during low interest rate periods but if you sell when they are high your a fool !

My guess is that is part of it, the other part is many professions are transitioning in one way or another (guess).

As I keep pointing out is economics is a complex many headed beast that is hard to predict.
