But it's still cheaper than providing bullet proof infrastructure.

Did you read what Nail said?

that's bullshit. I walk past at least one power pole that is on life support. One of them looks like a tooth pick ready to split in half and kill someone any time. hardly call that gold plating ! A place I lived once there was a power pole outside it had one of its 11kv wires come a drift and hit the ground and the noise was truly frightening. Anyone standing there or driving would have been toast Sad Another power pole was on so much of a bad angle and had a bend in it, it took them years to come and replace it Sad The only thing that is being gold plated is their bank accounts !!

Who said anything about bullet-proofing? You look at the start-up current draw, if it is increasing you need to keep a close eye on the network for improvements.

Yes. One isolated power pole cannot prove or disprove whether a network was or was not gold-plated, whether the money went straight to bonuses, shareholders or to somewhere else.

Of course if he were really concerned, he would take up a petition about it being dangerous.

Bullet proofing is a metaphor for making sure that it works under all conditions.

There are many examples of dilapidated infrastructure -
not just the one that Nail mentioned.
People need to open their eyes when they walk down the street.

Yes. I understand. A step up from gold-plating.

The thing is Lastnail has seen. He hasn't indicated he has done anything about it. Perhaps he is one of those people happy to leave it to "someone else".

It's not Nail's job to fix it up.
As far as I know it was reported to the electricity provider.
They don't fix things up till they break down first.

We need preventive maintenance.

Nope. never said it was. As a concerend citizen however; he should. As I said "raise a petition". Point it out to people who have not noticed.

So perhaps one report? How about multiple reports?

You must have strange providers over east. The poles in our town were all replaced. Some sign of wear.

Exactly. And that is aided by people (plural) voicing there concerns.

We need state owned electricity supply , privitisation had been an obvious abject failure

Possibly. However any defects still need to be reported to make sure they are known. It is impossible to fix unknown defects.

why should it be the job of the untrained public to go around and inspect their "gold plated" network ? What happened to the inspectors ? Silly question of course because the shareholders greed is more important than the publics safety Sad

Strange how you an "untrained member of the public" could spot a problem. Also strange that you don't own a phone to report the problem. Not that it is your problem of course. If the power goes out it will be their fault. If anybody s injured or killed it will again be their problem. Your hands will be more or less clean.

So if it went back to the Government they would employ more people, because currently no-one or not enough trained inspectors are doing the job and it will cost less money?

or should we only reserve subsidies for anvil industry

Perhaps you can cite an anvil industry that got those billions ?

the never ever clean coal technologies and deisel rebates !

and what about the libbos infamous direct action plan ?

Diesel rebates aren't subsidies. Property flippers as you call them get none either.

How's direct action a subsidy. Coal and gas have certainly had a fair swag over the years though.

Property flippers and investors get lots of corporate welfare in the form of tax concessions and CGT discounts.

It's been explained to you numerous times. You really are a dense twat.

and nobody accepts your lame explanation except you !
