It's always America's fault when Muslims turn to violence.

So, it's OK to just invade another country, kill millions of it's population and destroy it's cities instead when another country does something you disagree with, FD?  But it's not OK to get angry when Washington decides to recognise another nation's capital which the Palestinians also hold to be their capital?   Tsk, tsk.   Roll Eyes

It's Trump's fault this Muslim guy picked up a piece of wood and started smashing the windows of Jewish restaurants.

Thanks Trump.

Peaceful protest, init?

Now let's see if I've got this right, the white man went to certain lands and took over from the indigenous people, the white man was wrong and should make amendments today for past wrongs.

There is absolutely no doubt that Jerusalem always had and always will have overriding spiritual and physical values and purposes in Jewish culture and religion.

The Jews were removed by superior forces, they came back in 1948 and 1967 to reclaim what was archeologically, spiritually and physically theirs.

But now the leftards have changed their minds, the wrong that was done to the Jews in the past should not be rectified?

So why isn't it archaeologically, spiritually and physically the Muselman's, Moses?

Apart from you being called Moses, I mean.

Ah, so the period that the Jews were (largely but not completely) absent from Palestine, from the time of the start of the Diaspora (~132 CE) to it's end in 1948  CE, are meaningless in the annals of Archaeology, Historiography, Religious/Cultural matters?   My, what a nice view you have of such things..  I wonder, Moses, when you are you going to recognise the claims of Indigenous Australians to Australia?  Afterall, the White colonists have only been here for what, just over 200 years?

It is an interesting question, Cods and one I have considered myself fairly often.  However, both sides claim Jerusalem as their capital and neither will budge.   Tom Clancy had the idea that the Vatican and the Swiss Guard take over security in the city in one of his novels and neither side got it as their capital.   An interesting idea but it assumes that the Vatican is seen as a neutral player in this by both sides and I doubt that they would relinquish their claims to the city.   I once proposed to the newsgroup talk. politics.mideast that instead, the United Nations take it over and furnish a police force for security and law enforcement, as they had in Cyprus.   It gained a lot of comments and support from both sides.   People here are too polarised to discuss such matters seriously, unfortunately.    Roll Eyes

The region known as Palestine dates back to well before the time of Rome, to the ancient Greeks:

Quote:
Palestine (Arabic: فلسطين‎ Filasṭīn, Falasṭīn, Filisṭīn; Greek: Παλαιστίνη, Palaistinē; Latin: Palaestina; Hebrew: פלשתינה Palestina) is a geographic region in Western Asia. It is usually considered to include the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Israel, and in some definitions, some parts of western Jordan. The name was used by Ancient Greek writers, and it was later used for the Roman province Syria Palaestina, the Byzantine Palaestina Prima, and the Islamic provincial district of Jund Filastin.

The Jews predate the muslims by thousands of years in Jerusalem.

Why not grant them title to what is historically archeologically spiritually and physically theirs.

The Christian claim is an upshot of Judaism, without the Jews Christianity would never have come into existence.

Without the Jews and Christians islam would never have appeared.

Why is everybody having such a problem with what happened in theses parts thousands of years ago, and is still very much part of today?

The Jews were first, Christianity and islam owe their existence to Judaism, what is wrong with simply telling it as it is?

Oh well leftards and muslims will never agree with the truth so we'll see how it all pans out.

How significant is this predation of Muslims by Jews?

To the Jews:
Jerusalem has always been significant as the place of the Holy of Holies, the most sacred site in Judaism.

For Christians:
Jerusalem has always been significant to Christians because of the places there where Jesus ministered and,  where he died and rose again. Jerusalem is the birth place of Christian world.

muslims believe:
It was here that mohammed tied his flying donkey the Al-Buraq, during his alleged night time journey from Mecca to Jerusalem.

Me I'll go with the Jews and Christians as having a more logical claim than muslims and their flying donkey.

I also admit that without Judaism the other two would not exist.

Yes but they left Jerusalem, by and large when the Romans expelled them from Palestine, Moses.  Please catch up with the history of the region, OK?

'cause they have been absent from the region for most of the last ~2000 years?  No, of course not, none of that history occurred, now did it?  No, no, of course not, in Moses, book - The Bible...   Roll Eyes

Perhaps because it ignores ~2000 years of history, Moses?  You know, all that intervening stuff that happened after the Jews were expelled from Palestine by the Romans?   I mean, the Jews rebelled so perhaps they deserved their expulsion?   Perhaps it was just God's way of telling them they had been naughty?   Tsk, tsk.    Roll Eyes
