did Rudd and Gillard sign as well ?

They're the ones who opened Anus Island, Anus Island was never a problem for lefties until Gillard and Rudd were booted out of the top job by aussie voters.

No you are wrong. Most people against this now were also against it when it was Rudd.

Indeed. This has been pointed out on here more times than i could possibly count.

It doesn't matter how many times we say it ... they would rather focus on blaming Labor than thinking about the people in dire and desperate need whose human rights we are violating ... NOW.

Right now.

Today.

This minute.

What an absolute crock..what a load of old cobblers

If those Country Shoppers don't like where they are CHOOSING TO STAY they can kick their can down the road to the 10 million dollar facility with all the bells and whistles waiting for them to become residents

Of course then they couldn't play the "Oh look at me suffering" card

Pack this bunch of bludgers on planes and send them back to their place of origin, in handcuffs if necessary

That's it.

They've got modern facilities waiting for them but they know that to transition from Manus Island to the new place would mean they are tacitly agreeing to begin the journey home.

As for 'Australian of the Year' ~ was it ever awarded to someone who isn't of the Left, or an aborigine, or a homosexual, or one from any number of minority victimhood communities?

Same with the Nobel Prizes.

BREAKING: The Manus Island detention centre is currently attack by PNG police and the Australian Federal Police. The AFP's involvement confirms that Dutton and Turnbull are in charge. Call them now and demand they stop.

Dutton - (02) 6277 7860
Turnbull - (02) 6277 7700

AFP have confirmed they are NOT involved in any way.

Yeah, that's what Dutton's drone said when my friend got through to her. Refused to put it on writing though.

Meanwhile, we have this:

Statement from Behrouz Boochani:

Around 6:30 this morning many police mobile squad and immigration officers came inside the prison camp.

They started shouting at us to leave. Hundreds of the refugees gathered in Delta compound and some climbed on the roof. An Australian Federal Police officer was guiding more than 50 PNG police, who shouted at people over a microphone “Move, move”.

Immigration threatened the refugees who were on the roof to come down and hand over their phones. They were very angry and shouting at the refugees to deliver their phones.

The refugees were extremely scared and some were crying, but sitting peacefully and otherwise completely silent.

Immigration and police kept ramping up the tension, shouting and searching the rooms and saying “Move, move, you only have an hour to move.”

Police and immigration were very aggressive and some of them were swearing at the refugees. More police spread through the prison camp and around the prison, with Navy officers outside.

Those inside started to break the shelters and water tanks shouting “move, move”, taking people’s phones and searching rooms, taking the refugees there out by force.

They destroyed everything. Shelters, tanks, beds and all of our belongings.
They are still here and very aggressive. They’ve put our belongings in the rubbish bins. The refugees are so scared and have remained peaceful but begun chanting ‘Freedom! Freedom’.

Australia has abandoned its fair go for a f@#k off thanks to little Johnny and a succession of political leaders to afraid to take a more humane path and negotiate a regional solution which includes Australia and New Zealand....Refugees are now a wedge in the Australian political system and their deplorable treatment is Australia's shame!!!

Quote:
We are also concerned about Australia’s international reputation in human rights. It seems that both our major political parties have failed to meet their most basic obligations under the United Nations Refugee Convention, one that our country helped to negotiate and which we signed in 1951.

The irony of Australia’s recent appointment to the UN Council for Human Rights is palpable. Do we now condemn our own actions?

How can a camp; with no guards, no locks, to keep people in; be a prison camp?

Such an emotional outburst.

The absolute absence of even basic compassion from some of you people is beyond belief!

This is a very dark day for Australia. We are being broadcast around the world in an extremely negative light.

There will be consequences.

I am utterly sickened by the entire affair, and equally sickened by you.

But beyond that, i'm gobsmacked your pathetic self-preservation according to your  ever diminishing depth of world view is not at least challenged by what will invariably be the consequences.

The word "sanctions" is being bandied about. That is how disgraceful we are.

Why would they sanction us. It is NOT a prison camp. It is a CLOSED detention centre. They remain in the camp ILLEGALLY. If someone were to be hurt by remaining in this camp, and no effort made to evict them; then Australia could be held culpable.

They have perfectly good accommodation to which they can go.

Lee i'm not eveen remotely interested in back-tracking along the evolution of my awareness regarding this issue to answer your foolish questions.

By all means, continue to post away. Someone may take pity on you.

It won't, i regret not at all to say, be me.

You actually hit the nail on head Mr Hammer....By demonising and branding refugees the political class has turned the plight of innocent people into a wedge issue they can drag each other down with....The alarm about the asylum seekers drowning at sea has turned into a f@#k off refugees....It disgusts me at the level some people treat innocent human beings for political purposes!!!
