Nope. It is to do with El Nino/La Nina.

You do know that is in relation to the ocean cycles not temperature. Right?

With La Nina's the trade winds push the water into the western Pacific, It creates much higher tides.
When the trade winds fail the water moves back towards the eastern Pacific. Just like you creating waves in your bathtub. This creates much lower low tides.

Nope. It is to do with El Nino/La Nina.

Still desperately clinging to the El Nino/La Nina
You do realise that the 2017 bleaching event was a full year after the El Nino had ended, and for part of that year the SOI had been positive.

Satellite data shows that the sea temperature was warmer, your graph shows that the sea temperature was warmer, you have even admitted that the earth is getting warmer but you still desperately cling to low tides as the explanation. Grin

Satellite data shows the Sea Surface Temperature. no the sea temperature.

Yes. As I said Coral bleaching is a feature of a sudden change of temperature, up or down. Not temperature per se. You do understand sudden? quick? There should be a sudden uptick in water temperature. Wink
