With the surge in the number of EVs money will be spent on its weakest part, the battery. Major progress will be made, lighter, quicker to recharge batteries will be developed.

There may be money spent. It does not guarantee a major design breakthrough. Batteries are a a mature technology.

Invented the ICE.

I don’t believe progress can be stopped and do believe there will be a breakthrough on battery technology. As well as incremental changes.

How about when they catch  fire and explode?  Got a solution for that too?

Or as usual is the solution a plea for MORE TAX PAYERS DOLLARS!

Comes down to what is better.

The only thing electric cars do better is VIRTUE SIGNAL.

No, cleaner air and quieter cities.

With increasing take up of solar panels, some small windmill generator, less carbon pollution.

EVs are the future!

Wall Street Journal offers a dissenting voice:

Quote:
Electric Cars Are the Future? Not So Fast

http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/print/WSJ_-A002-20170713.pdf

Can’t copy the article.

Basically points out that without subsidies and with cheap oil EVs incl hybrids face a more difficult path to travel. Against that, AGW will mandate, after the major flood I predict, rules that mandate or have the effect of the phasing out of the ICE.

Well there you go, i didnt realise the global warming fix had now changed to make our cities have cleaner air and be quieter.....

It just keeps on giving.....how about you just move to some one horse town and park your social engineering bus under a tree and let the rest of us work and make a better future.

No, we need to reduce emissions. That is what “less carbon pollution means.”

A move to renewable energy and EVs will have lovely side benefits like cleaner air and quieter cities.

Putting water on Lithium battery fires doesn't put the fire out.

I guess you need off street parking to consider with owning an electric car, can you imagine people tripping over extension cords on the footpath.

Leftists and the Ayatollahs have a lot in common when it comes to criticism of Islam, they don't tolerate it.

I love how conservatives all think the same. The schtick about extension cords on the footpath is a common one.
