So, let's start with one issue first - the most pressing issue currently, and deal with another things later on.

I think you're making excuses. The issue is simple: either you support equality before the law, or you don't?

No - I believe in democracy.
I'm just concerned that so much money is being wasted a non event.
It could have been voted on in parliament for free.
I would accept the outcome in that case.

I just can't see why other important questions -
questions 1000 times more important can't be put on the same ballot paper.
It wouldn't cost any more to print the extra questions.

I see it as taking away my rights to have a say,
& at the same time wasting $122 million.

Yes, it should've been, but it hasn't been because the conservatives have been kicking up a stink.

If you want this issue to be put to bed, then shut the conservatives up by voting yes on the issue.

How is it taking your rights away to vote on an issue?

This plebiscite is about politically dealing with an issue once and for all. Imagine if the people overwhelmingly voted yes for SSM, the conservatives, religious leaders couldn't say anything against it, and wouldn't publicly. They would have to support it. It would then gain widespread political support.

Let's shut the Conservatives up...

Booby: firstly, this caesar traitor doesn't beleive in democracy: he admitted that 300 posts ago.

He says one thing and then directly admits to not beleiving in what he just said...

It's a written fact  Wink

Same-sex marriage is a completely different issue from any others that members have proposed, such as defence, immigration, etc. This is because it fundamentally deals with the issue of civil rights, liberties and equality before the law. As a libertarian, there is no greater important issue than civil rights. All other issues such as defence, immigration, etc. are decisions made by elected members (and the government) - that's why we elect them to represent us.

In Australia, homosexuals are the LAST MARGINALIZED MINORITY. Once we vote in favour in SSM, then we will have achieved full equality before the law for all citizens of the Commonwealth.

So, those who oppose this measure, I say - either you believe in liberty or you believe in autocracy?

Which is it?

Firstly i don't beleive caesar is a so called Libertarian!

Apply that principle to euthanasia.

We need a lot more questions on the ballot.

I agree with euthanasia, but euthanasia is a different issue from granting civil rights and liberties to a minority.

Ultimately, if you want more ballot measures then make proposals for citizen-initiated referendum like they have in Switzerland and in California. I'll back you up on this proposal, and even draft a bill if you want.

Look - I'd accept this ballot - as costly as it is -
if it had a lot more questions on it.
Euthanasia is just one extra question -
I'm sure we could make 100 more questions.

So, let's start with one issue first - the most pressing issue currently, and deal with another things later on.

I'd rather call caesar: the bad calculus!
