So nobody wants to read the article and discuss this serious environmental disaster that could and willl have wide reaching effects because it ... what? Makes you feel defensive?

Well, most awareness of human impact on the environment makes people defensive. Has done for decades, which is why we're running out of time.

If only people would shelve their own agendas and look at the picture objectively. You may be able to change your habits to help the environment, at least learn from this dreadful mistake. There are many ways to do that.
