Are the best.

One of the best is 'True Grit', by The Coen Brothers.

Beautiful movie.

The Coen Brothers version was quite good. But the original with John Wayne and Kim Darby was probably better.

That said, Hailee Steinfeld did an excellent job as Mattie Ross.

The remake of The Magnificent Seven wasn't too bad but I am always partial to Denzel.

It was pathetic, and so was Washington in it.  Rated poorly as well, and as could be expected.

The dvd of the Magnificent Seven remake sits in front of me right now. I did a swap with dad for a copy of the original. I bought the original with the intent on getting the remake later. But dad did not like the remake very much. A few days after getting the original, I found the four pack for $20 of the first four movies of the Magnificent Seven. Got that as well, and swapped the surplus version for the remake that dad did not want.

That movie had me mesmerised in the 1990s. Had to buy a dvd copy and rewatch it over and over. The band Metallica bought the rights to the song "Ecstacy of gold". The band likes to play it at the start of each of their shows.

Sergio Leone demonstrated true genius with that movie. Combining a western with elements of Italian opera. Sounds ridiculous!  Actually, the film is a masterpiece.

With the exception of one or two I think I've seen all mentioned on here.

I don't think anyone mentioned

Dances with Wolves.

Last of the Mohicans (1936 & 1992)

Big fan of westerns.......................... Cool

Yes I mentioned Dances...  but not The Last of the Mohicans, love the Daniel Day-Lewis one.

Haven't listed any by Randolph Scott but he has many good westerns.

If I had to pick just a handful, they'd be...
El Dorado
The Big Country
The Last of the Mohicans
The Last Wagon
and...
Shane.

Not too fussed about Clint's spaghetti westerns, but Pale Rider was good.

I think I've watched them all on sockshare.

1936 is almost identical, but the modern one is better.

didn't know they had a remake. I'll have to see if I can find it.

It's very good.

100 times better than the John Wayne version.

On Netflix, I think.

I like quirky Silverado, Cheyenne Autumn, Outlaw Josey Wales, and snuck a look at Jane Got Her Gun with Wynona Ryder - not too bad....

Been sneaking online to watch Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee, and Hickock (which was obviously a lead for a series), and a few others.  Saw the new Magnificent Seven...

Ah, yes - Tombstone... Doc had all the best lines...

"Ah will not be pawed at in this unseemly fashion.  Ah'm as right as the mail."

"Why look darlin', it's Johnny Ringo - the deadliest pistoleer, they say, since Wild Bill!"

"This is a nocturne, you ignorant asshole.. you know.. Frederick Forken Chopin?"

"And you, music lover.. you're next!"

"Why, you filthy lung-er - you're so drunk you're seeing double!"
"In that case Ah have two pistols.. one for each of ya."

"You don't have to get involved, Doc.  This is not your fight."
"Now that is one HELL of a thing for you to say to me!"
