Hmm, irrational hatred & bigotry is a tricky issue.

Grendel: what are the rules regarding the children - can beer bottles be used on them too, or is there a different weapon of choice for the victims who are half the size of the violent attackers?

I suppose we need to ask whether the children said "Happy Christmas" or not.

If they didn't, they probably deserve t be marginalised ... running the risk that they are radicalised in future years.

When confronted by such people, unless you have a weapon, the sensible thing is to respond in a way calculated not to antagonise or quickly exit the scene. I imagine that's the advice police would give.
