We have learned that the Larsen C iceshelf thinned by 4m from warm air and warm waters above and below.

The bit that broke off also included part of an anchor point holding the rest of the shelf in place. With the warming above and below, with the loss of a part of an anchor point I think the rest of the ice shelf will soon follow the bit that broke off. Then the glaciers that used to end at the ice shelf will end where the warmer waters are, accelerating the iceloss from the Antarctic peninsula.

However, the Peninsula is penny ante stuff. The Thwaites Peninsula however, is far from minor.

The next post in Relationships will cover the Thwaites Peninsula.

From 10,000 to 20,000 years ago. The World was in an Ice-Age that obviously 'dried' the moisture out of the atmosphere and gave rise to Australia experiencing its biggest DROUGHT since the introduction of peoples to this continent. It was a drought that most likely turned a peoples here from 'living' to just 'surviving' and pretty sure brought about the 'stagnation' of an age old 'culture' that no longer blossomed.

...with all this ice melting everywhere, sure the World is getting warmer (feels too hot for me in summer Tongue

!) and the result is that it is raining more so than ever, with more moisture in the atmosphere.

Kinda fitting really, considering the immense amount of deforestation and vast tracks of lands becoming 'dust bowls' (like Wheat belts, etc) - no wonder '

Gaia'

is trying to rectify the problem and in need of a pretty good drink!
Kinda timely really, considering vast amounts of 'fresh water' have all been used up and depleted around the world as well. As they say in Russia "Bye Bye Lake Baikal"
