I bought a puffer jacket. Ethical?

I went puffer jacket shopping today.

First stop was Uniqlo but their jackets were a bit thin and I've heard their factories are sweat shops and the duck down is not ethically sourced.

Next stop was Kathmandu and the sales person told me their jackets are made in China but the workers are paid properly and all the duck down is ethically sourced.

I went with the Kathmandu jacket because as well as the above they had a 40% off sale I liked their product more.

So now I'm sitting here in my new 550 fill power Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certified down puffer jacket feeling toasty warm.

I've done the best I can to be an ethical shopper but I feel the RDS is just a BS box ticking exercise because lets face it, when you pluck the feathers off a duck it's dead anyway.

Oh well, at least I'm warm.

I suspected Chinese may do something brutal like that. Glad I didn't buy the Uniqlo one.
