Australian girl killed in Baghdad terror attack at ice-cream parlour

An Australian schoolgirl has been killed in a terror attack at an ice-cream shop in Baghdad on Monday night.

Zynab AlHarbiya, 12, from Thomastown in Melbourne, was in Iraq visiting her ailing grandfather at the time and had been taken to local ice-cream parlour to mark the end of a day of Ramadan fasting when a car bomb exploded.

She was a year 7 student at Sirius College in Broadmeadows.

The suicide bombing at a popular Baghdad ice cream shop killed at least 16 people, and was an attack claimed by the Islamic State group.

The overnight bombing in the Karrada district in central Baghdad also wounded 75 people, officials said.

IS issued a statement claiming the attack, identifying the bomber as an Iraqi who detonated an explosives-rigged vehicle targeting Shiite Muslims.

IS considers members of Iraq's Shiite Muslim majority - including the women and children who were victims of the Karrada blast - to be heretics and frequently carries out attacks against them.

The bomber struck just days after the start of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, during which Iraqis often stay out late shopping or socialising after breaking their daily fast.

I'd say that's only partially true. When Muslims who are migrants do things that are clearly anti social and push Islamic values they SHOULD have left at the door when they migrated, they deserve to be called out on it.

I want to know more about the victim, but as far as I'm concerned she was an Austrian girl who went for an ice creme and died because Islam is a flawed religion.

They don't even mention it.

However, like you, I've been harassed by many, many Christians who tell me I'll go to hell if I don't worship their god.
