Some tomatoes and coriander leaves would make a kickarse salsa! Great with corn chips and a beer.

Find a Farmers Market and get some REAL food with FLAVOR and NUTRITION!

I wouldn't bother if it was from just a generic pile of chillies, but this was obviously catering to the connoisseur. There were even 3 types of jalapenos, and out of shot was a hand written warning saying about the habanaros saying they are seriously hot!!!

I decided to start off tame tonight and had a jalapino fried and stirred into some red beans. Yummo.

Yeah.

I use my supermarket for Paris Creek milk, butter & yoghurt, sometimes some icecreams, buy the mince for the dog (alternate that with chicken necks) sometimes some Kettle crisps, the plain salted kind and that’s it for food, really.

I know, not easy for everyone, Mike. I just don’t like people seeing “super” markets as the be all and end all of food.

Funny isn't it, in the most expensive part of Australia we're spoiled for choice and have the best produce of the country brought to our door for the lowest price.

The owner of Harris Farm lives in our hood and he's turned fruit and veg on it's head in Sydney.

Fresher, cheaper, imperfect pics and they've forced local supermarkets to up their game.

When you go to a Coles that has a Harris Farm near by, their quality is fist rate. If not, the quality is shtt.

“fist” rate eh? Hmmmm

Smiley

My inner pedant comes out to play occasionally.

Joking aside, it does pay to look for sources of quality fruit, veg & meat.

The Paris Creek milk I buy is non–homogenised. Shake the bottle before pouring milk into your tea. The more that is done to the milk (skimmed, homogenised etc etc) the less food value it has.

you need to go to NZ to see and taste real quality...sorry about that..

at the moment I seem to be buying potatoes with lots of black and or brown spots through them....

nothing seems to me to be like it once was...carrots even get black spots on them in the fridge...fed up with it.

It looks like Harris farm are doing for fruit what the bread shops did for bread.

The supermarkets killed off the local bakeries for a good while, then they just sold boring white sliced until consumers went for the boutique bread shops again

very true   they came back with a vengeance didnt they...I am going to stop buying mince meat in supermarkets.. how its minced pings me off  I always brown it before cooking it and they mine it in these spirals  which remain in spirals long after its cooked... I dont like it..my local shop does mince the old way...I pay a bit more but at least it doesnt look like a badly matted cat.

Sausages, never ever buy supermarket ones.

Only from a great butcher that you can trust
