Kangaroo skin export ban eats into earnings

SKINS from tens of thousands of Victorian kangaroos are being wasted while processors wait for government permission to export them, threatening the viability of a wildlife management trial farmers say is badly needed.

One meat processor is estimated to have up to 10,000 kangaroo skins in a freezer, while another routinely destroys the skins, potentially worth $3 each, awaiting government approval to export.

Gee, an embryo brought up to be a joey in a mother's pouch, weaned, kicked out, then trained to hop around and be a good member of the family...

I assume their meat is in a pet food can??...

or maybe even being served up in a posh restaurant..

why are these hides not being turned into shoes or even lounge chairs....its still leather isnt it??.. what wrong with this country???....

we even have crocodile and Emu on plates now yet we dont wear the skin???.... we send it abroad....

why can we wear a skin belonging to a cow and not a kangaroo...I would believe there are more kangaroos in this country than cows.... it seems daft to me..a double standard...

Freediver has a new cause involving kangaroos.

The South Africa cause has been discarded.

Only it's skin, the meat ends up in Coles and Woolies for $7 a kilo as sausages and other meat. My son regularly buys it. When he feeds it to his Nip wife I make jokes(I won't tell you, it's politically incorrect).

A kangaroo skin looks better on a kangaroo than it would on Cods.

How many jobs does government regulation cost Australians?

Government is supposed to work for the people not the other way around.

The arrogance of your Federal, State and Local Governments is breathtaking. Why do Australians take it?  So servile. Is it the convict heritage? "We must not assert ourselves because we were all once criminals?"

Time Australia elected someone similar to Donald Trump to drain Lake Burly Griffin.

Grow some balls Australia!

Alh! I see.

edit: They can you know. It's just they speak in syllables, roughly two of our letters per kanji char. You'll notice the Maru on all the Nip ships, they do not say malu. It just happens sometimes the only char available contains an l not an r, rough enough. What? You think that is impossibru? It is an incredibly complicated, inefficient and constrained way of writing words.
