all impeachment, all the time

What do you think the Republican reaction would be to this state of affairs if it were Hillary instead of Trump?  Impeachment, impeachment, impeachment.

Trump will be impeached because he is too stupid to resign.

Well of course the Democrats would be going ape. It's all party politics. The Republicans wouldn't have won without Trump and they're not gonna impeach him.

When the word "Nixonian" is used to refer to a president it is all downhill from there ...

Quote:
CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin was gobsmacked that the Trump administration would try to justify the firing based on actions Comey took last year. “This is just the most preposterous pretext,” Comey said. “This is an investigator who is investigating the White House, and he was just fired by the White House. This doesn’t happen in the United States, except on October 20, 1973, when Richard Nixon fired Archibald Cox.”
Cox was special prosecutor investigating the Watergate scandal, and when Nixon fired him, it was known as the “Saturday Night Massacre,” because both the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General also resigned rather than obey Nixon’s order to fire him.
Toobin went on to say that Comey’s successor will be a “stooge who will shut down the investigation.”

You mean Trump will be coasting from now on? Great he's had such a rough time up to now. Grin

Nixon upset the powers that be. Thats why the investigation into Watergate got legs and expanded. Many Presidents have done far worse things than Nixon. Watergate was the cover story to remove him. Wink

Nixon, like Trump, was also an outsider... Nixon was consumed by his insecurity of not being an east coast political elite... A flaw that drove his irrational dark-self...

Trump is driven by a similar dark side, although not evoked by his being an outsider but by his sense of inferiority towards career politicians (particularly Obama), which manifests in him as bluster and egomaniacal rants... And that's where he and Nixon join paths.
