the great thing about america and the reason it throws up so many creative and talented people is that , the republicans recognise that small government is the best thing to help people get onto the "narrow road to success".

our liberal party is still a big government party and this is because the egos of our politicians are out of control.

but it takes a very "superior man" , when given power, to not exert control and to give back, as an act of love, that power to the citizens.

Joe Lunchbox in america has a wonderful opportunity that few in socialist europe, or socialist australia will ever have.
he has the "evolutionary pressure" to make him climb.
he has a government which says that one must, to a certain extent, take responsibility for the trajectory of your own life.

in the socialist regimes of europe and australia, it is just SO EASY to be apathetic, it is SO EASY to be mediocre, knowing that this enormous safety net will catch you when you mess up. this encourages people to "mess up".

without the blowtorch of consequences for being a mediocre pussy, how can a country ever become great?

Ah, but a bandage that will be much more sustainable down the road......until financial pressures eventually catch up to it too.

Any government plan that subsidizes the product eventually grows, becoming more & more unsustainable.

Health care, like the wonderful healthcare system we have here in Australia, must be heavily subsidized by the government.

Sometimes that means tax increases, but because that doesn't always get a warm reception by the general public, more & more of that subsidy must be financed via borrowing.

Our system, great as it is, will only be sustainable for the present generations, to a point when tough decisions will need to be made, cut benefits, cut who is covered (changing thresholds), or increase taxes.

There's no such thing as a free lunch, & socialized (subsidized) medicine will stress when the government runs out of other peoples money, to the point that it is no longer sustainable, debt goes through the roof, & unfortunately implodes upon itself & needs to be replaced.

You have no idea of American health expenditures as a total percentage of the GDP, do you? The American *system* is so good it is the highest in the world.

Medical care and the health care industry barely have anything in common. Drive around any big American City and you will see huge buildings with the names of major insurance companies. That is the "Health Care Industry", it supports an army of office drones who have nothing to do with actual medical treatment. If we could go back to the system where we pay our Doctor and the money stays with the Clinic the cost of treatment would be a fraction of what it is today.

Have to admire how Trump and his butt buddy Ryan put a target on the backs of the poor and will start executing them as soon as possible with this Bill.

Trump's own for-profit health insurance industry butt buddies are salivating at the fact that individuals would be even more at the mercy of the private insurance companies starting with the elimination the ACA rule that insurers cover a certain share of policyholders’ costs. Now, insurers would be allowed to charge five times or more for older Americans’ insurance coverage than for younger people, compared to three times more under the ACA.
