Even a layman can see that the world is warming, just look how nearly all glaciers are retreating, Greenland is losing 200Gtons of ice a year, the Arctic sea ice extent has shrunk dramatically—anyone can find images of the shrinking of the Arctic.

Conservatives fear change but it is not just conservatives that deny AGW.

Sea levels are rising and when Antarctica starts losing net ice (it is gaining mass more and more slowly) sea level rise will speed up. (At present Antarctica is reducing sea level rise.)

There are a couple here who fear AGW so much the have let a lying charlatan convince them we are entering a Little Ice Age because sunspot numbers will reach a minimum. That might temporarily reduce temperatures by .5°C. This character Dubyne in a video a week or so ago said a lake in Melbourne turning pink was a sign of the Little Ice Age

If anybody here does not believe or disbelieves AGW then can you tell WHY? There is time to decarbonise the economy and avoid “catastrophe” so by denying you are making catastrophe certain! The irony of denialism.

It isn’t easy to think that urgent action is needed, like people talking themselves into believing war won’t come then a world was happens! But action now will be easier and cheaper than action in 20 years (or whatever) time.

I don’t consider deniers are unintelligent just afraid. Or maybe scientists are not conveying the science clearly and plainly enough?

Yes, for some it is religious upbringing “Only Gawd can change the climate!” kind of thing—and some of that religious aspect could be buried deep and even be unknown to the denier.

For some, the “almighty dollar” could be the reason.

Or just set in their ways, comfortable life don’t even want to contemplate having to change, to give up some comfort.

All science is “just a theory.”

Some theories are well supported by evidence, like AGW and relativity. Public policy should bear in mind solid theories like AGW. We even know the mechanism.

As I said in the OP, the man in the street can see AGW in action: the retreat of glaciers, the huge ice loss from Greenland. the shrinking of Arctic sea ice and so on and so on.
