A coffee shop led recovery - can you believe this?
Apr 21st, 2017 at 11:10am

These days just about every shopping strip or center is dominated by cafes, restaurants and real estate agents !!

What the hell is going on here !! Why aren't we being productive anymore ? How do we expect to pay back our debts on the back of cafe lattes ? Nothing is being made here except bullshit ! A bullshit economy run by a real estate agent from point piper.

Is this what Morriscum means by prosperity and being the envy of the rest of the world Cheesy LOL

Yeh sure you can do anything you want off the back of a credit card but sooner or later you have to pay interest !!

Bill Shorten's corrupt Commo unions have closed down manufacturing here in Australia with their insane wage demands that simply make the Australian company unable to compete with their overseas competitor and so the product is imported from China.

Bill Shorten's corrupt Commo unions are just parasites sucking the goodness out of Australia and forcing our manufacture over to China.

Bill Shorten's corrupt Commo unions don't give a damn about the workers any more as they are ONLY interested in trying to maintain the luxurious lifestyles they built up during the long gone Tariff Wall days when unions were KING.

Just look at how they reduced workers weekend penalty rates at MacDonalds and Cleanevent and Chiquito Mushrooms.

You lot don't want to make anything. All you want to do is dig crap out of the ground and hand it over to the chinese and then buy the finished imported manufactured goods through Harvey Norman on the credit card. That's what your enviable fake service economy is all about !

shopping centres are changing. In the future they'll be mostly meeting points, for dining and entertainment, they'll serve the service industry such as real estate, accountants, etc with very few 'retail' shops. Internet shopping has destroyed bricks and motor retail, or is in the process off.

If you want to sell tshirts or shoes why pay $2- 3k A WEEK to rent a space when you can rent a garage for $300 and sell online? Do you know how many tshirts or shoes you have to sell to pay the rent? then you need staff to stand there all day. It cannot compete with online

Yes, there are more coffee shops now (is this really a bad thing?) but I think you'll find that the number of real estate agents has not increased that much over the last 40 years or so.  It's just that their marketing is more "in your face" these days and you notice them every time you see one.  Back in the 1970s they operated out of small shops and the windows were full of framed black and white photographs with a bit of typed information - hardly eye catching.

I don't believe you can run a prosperous service economy because if you could then we wouldn't be in so much debt !!

Perhaps there are some exceptions such as Singapore etc but this idea that countries like china have still to transition to a service economy that is parroted by the brains trust here is truly laughable. China has built a massive cashed up economy on the back of value adding and manufacturing so the last thing they want to do is to follow us and throw all of that away and replace it with coffee shops and lawn mowing rounds Sad

Where I live there are 5 real estate agents in stones throw of each other and I am not exaggerating ! This is what the brains trust in canberra have created !! They have trashed the productive economy and replaced it with parasitic vermin who are experts in racking up debt and creating financial misery for little or no gain !! This is the service economy they keep banging on about that other countries should follow in our footsteps Sad

If a service economy was the way to go then germany would have closed its factories long ago and replaced it with coffee shops and real estate agents !! They are not that stupid of course Wink

I don't care what you believe about a service economy, I was talking about shopping centres. You do realise that the economy extends beyond shopping centres, right?

similar businesses often congregate around each other. It's good for business.
